It was three-thirty AM
We had the option to keep Cayden in the room or in the nursery. Danny chose to have the baby sleep with us in the room even though I was exhausted and could use as much sleep as possible.
As I heard Cayden began to fuss in his sleep I began tossing and turning in mine. "Babe" I mumbled yawning as I talked with my eyes closed slowly turning sitting up. "Danny" I whispered looking at him sleeping in the hospital chair with his hood up and arms folded out his sleeves.
"Danny" I whispered again as he inhaled deeply waking up out of his sleep stretching. "I think he needs changed or he's hungry" I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear as I played with my hospital band. "I got it" He exhaled rubbing his hands down his face getting up instantly as I laid back down watching him. "Check his diaper" I whispered. "I am I am" Danny mumbled getting up walking over to the hospital crib that had Cayden in it.
"Sh sh it's okay buddy I'm right here" Danny whispered changing the baby as I closed my eyes for a moment resting them. "I got you I promise" Danny whispered talking to Cayden as I opened my eyes smiling small. "Everything's under control" Danny mumbled to the baby scoffing as he was changing him. "Did he poop?" I whispered as Danny shook his head "No". "Just peed" Danny mumbled zipping his pajamas back up slowly picking him up as the baby placed his face into Danny's neck.
"When's the next feeding?" Danny asked rocking the baby walking back and forth as he yawned rubbing Caydens back gently. "You can do it now if you want" I whispered watching him as he walked to me handing me Cayden for a quick second.
"The bottles are pre made over there" I whispered as Danny went to grab one walking back over to the bed. "Here give me him" He whispered as I carefully moved my hand from supporting his head giving him back to Danny. "Daddy's got you" Danny whispered taking him walking back to a chair sitting down. "I can do the next one" I fought to keep my eyes opened as Danny waved me off. "Rest" He mumbled not taking his eyes off the baby as he began feeding him paying close attention to him.
Seven-thirty AM
As I tossed and turned out of my sleep I yawned flicking my eyes waking up. I stretched as I rubbed my hands down my face sitting up slowly seeing Danny knocked out holding Cayden in his sleep with two empty bottles next to him.
I scoffed smiling small shaking my head noticing Danny was awake for every feeding and didn't bother waking me. I got up slowly slipping my feet into my Victoria secret slippers as I retied my robe walking over to Danny slowly grabbing the baby from his arms. As Danny tensed up a little not letting go I laughed a little shaking him a little. "Babe I got him" I whispered as Danny flickered his eyes open then closed nodding up a little as he slowly undid his arms.
As I took Cayden Danny leaned his head against the wall getting comfortable again as he pulled his arms out his sleeves bundling up into his hoodie. He was so helpful and supportive that I couldn't have picked a better person to spend the rest of my life with. Danny was super involved with Cayden and I couldn't have been more grateful for such a amazing partner to start a family with.
As I slowly set Cayden down on the bed moving my hand away from his head I began slowly unzipping his pajamas. "I already changed him" Danny mumbled with his eyes closed as I glanced over at him then checked the diaper that was fine. I rolled my eyes shaking my head smiling as I zipped him up holding him close. "I love you" I whispered kissing Caydens head as I sat down laying back slowly.
Tomorrow Danny's dad is coming to visit and we officially got to take our baby boy home.
