CHAPTER 16 Gone like the wind

"Katie over here!" Sarah yells jumping up and down on her beach towel waving her hands in the air.
I smile laughing a little shaking my head as I slowly start to walk over with my beach bag.
I set it down in the sand leaning over taking my towel out spreading it out on the sand sitting down for a second as I block the sun out with my hand.

I look down at my phone for a second reading Jake's paragraphs as i've been ignoring him for days since the incident at the party the other night.
I haven't had much time to think of what to say especially with how I feel about him hooking up with someone prior to me being there.
I decided I was going to give our friendship some space and try not to think about it.

"What did you bring?" Cameron looks down at me sipping a bottle of Vodka.
"Oh I just brought some snacks" I start looking through my bag pulling out everything I bought.
"Want a sip?" He shuts one eye in the sun looking down at me.
"I'll pass for now thanks Cam" I laugh a little pushing it away.

All of a sudden I hear loud music blasting from a vehicle turning my head as I see Danny and his group of friends pulling up to the beach.
I slowly bend my knees wrapping my arms around my legs putting my chin on them looking over.

"What the hell is up!" I hear Cameron yell walking towards Danny's car as I feel a hand on my back as I look over at Sarah. "Gonna be okay?" She whispers.
"I've been ignoring him it's no biggy" I shrug playing it cool as I decided to take my shirt off so I can start putting on my sun screen, I admire the view of the water for a quick second.

"Hey" I look up seeing no other than Jake standing above me as I block the sun out with my hand shutting one eye. "Oh hey" I look away rubbing lotion on my legs. "Can we talk?" He says quietly putting his hands in his pockets. "There's nothing to talk about Jake nothing happened" I wrap my arms back around my legs looking away. "Then why are you ignoring me I've been trying to get in touch with you?" He slowly crouches down besides me.

I roll my eyes getting up sliding my shorts down in my bikini fully looking at him as he looks away then at me head to toe trying not to stare.
"Shouldn't you be worried about your latest hook up? you know the one that occurred before I came to your party" I fake smile. "You could of been honest you know" I exhale starting to walk away.
He begins following me moving in front of me every step as he places his hands on my hips trying to get me to stop walking.

"Look i'm sorry I kissed her that was it I was going to tell you" He stops me again. "Nothing else happened" He says as I begin to attempt to walk into a different direction he moves in front of me stopping me again. "We didn't sleep together Kate and i'm sorry I made a move on you" He stares at me holding me by my arms.

I look away folding my arms as I slowly exhale running my fingers through my hair as he stands in front of me gently taking my wrists. "I was going to explain believe me" He gulped seriously.
I slowly turn my head to look at him moving my arms. "Fine just be honest from now on" I sighed.
"Absolutely" He gulps nodding. "Can we go back to being cool now?" He raises a brow.

I roll my eyes looking away holding my stance trying not to smile as I bite my lip.
He laughs a little looking down shaking off some sand from his foot. "You have a nice smile" He says looking away then back at me as I turn around going to walk back to everyone as he follows me.
I look over my shoulder laughing a little as he catches up beside me.

He slowly touches my finger tip going to take my hand slowly as I let him as I hold his hand swinging our arms walking. We start to walk back to our group after making amends with each other as I feel Jake put his arm around me as I lean into him.
"Awe how cute look who made up" Sarah laughs clapping slowly.
"Yeah well everyone deserves a second chance right" I roll my eyes.
