It's been 6 months of no contact with Danny almost a full year, I figured we would bounce back to normal like usual but it seems like last time was serious. Not only did I lose the closest person to me but I felt empty being dropped like nothing he was my best friend. I thought we were stronger than that as I felt hopeless and lost without him, I thought Danny loved me and what we had was genuine maybe I was wrong. Over the past few months I've been trying to figure out who I am as I got tired of crying to get pushed away and blamed it's been difficult. I began slowly trying to find ways to cope with all of the heartbreak.
I'm still waitressing and now going to a trade school for 'Massage Therapy'. I figured since I never had the ideal childhood career like most with being a nurse, doctor or lawyer that I'd do something I actually don't mind. I use to do my moms feet all the time when I was a little girl it was actually enjoyable I also heard it was great money. Possibly one day I'll invest into my own parlor and business, I never had a dream career I was more into the imaginary things in life like being a princess or mermaid.
On the bright side Jake and I were still friends surprisingly he didn't intend on giving up on our friendship. I've haven't been feeling like myself as I began to have a lot of drunk nights and random hook ups, I did whatever I could to ignore my pain.
"You can't keep tipping me more than the bill" I exhaled smiling tilting my head. Mason was one of my regulars at the restaurant, not only was he extremely handsome but he's been trying to take me on a date for several months now. He began sticking around all day and night just for conversations and help with school work. He was currently in school for Journalism as he wrote several lines of poetry while ordering the same cup of coffee.
"Take it" He whispered under his breath while writing as I smiled small tilting my head placing my hand on my hip watching him. "I'm going to have to read some of your work one day" I scoffed smiling wiping down counters. "Feel free" He said sliding his book over to me raising his eyebrows as I rolled my eyes laughing a little. I slowly took the book slowly flipping through pages shutting one eye. "I'll start here" I said looking up at Mason then down at the book.
As I began reading a few lines I was impressed and immediately interested as I tapped the top edge of the book with my fingertip. "This is like really good" I raised my eyebrows looking up at Mason as he smiled innocently. "Continue" He whispered folding his hands patiently watching me. "Kate Table 7!" My boss yelled as I jumped a little startled closing the book quickly. "I'll be right back" I laughed a little pacing from behind the counter to the floor as Mason laughed.
"Did you need some more water?" I asked smiling as I placed my hands on my hips then taking the customers cup. I exhaled pacing through the restaurant as I walked to the drink machine getting refills. "Busy night huh?" Mason asked as I rolled my eyes looking at him over my shoulder. "Bills need paid" I sighed. "Need money for my books for school" I exhaled shaking my head pacing back to the table.
Caught up on all my tables I went back behind the counter placing my hands on it. "What inspires you to write anyways?" I laughed a little. "Hot girls like you" He said as I dropped my mouth slapping his hand gently. "Oh shut up" I laughed a little moving a piece of hair behind my ear. "Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked anxiously as my mouth opened nothing came out as I gulped. "Is that a yes?" He tilted his head as I blinked a few times shaking my head. "Ah um no I actually don't" I fake smiled small as my memory began reminiscing Danny.
"Let me take you out" Mason offered as I took a deep breath. "I'm always working or at school" I laughed a little. "I assume you have one day off" He raised his eyebrows tapping his pen lightly on the counter. "Fine" I exhaled laughing a little. "But just one date" I said as he held his hands up in defense. "I promise I won't try to marry you" He said sarcastically as I laughed enjoying the conversation. "What time are you off?" He asked as I blinked a few times looking down at my watch. "15 minutes" I exhaled. "Why?" I asked tilting my head.
