A kid? Becoming a dad again? Fuck, I know we been through this before but I couldn't knock my nerves about the possibility again. Today my mom gets her last home pass before fully being released and I'm a bit overwhelmed with everything on my plate right now. Seems like nothing could calm my anxiety as I tried my best to play it cool. Kate and I were in a good place right now as we been overcoming all our lows. I mean shit, the sex is great and all but I'm unsure if I'm ready for a kid right now. I guess I'll have to put this one in God's hands and do what I have to do.

"Stop thinking so hard" Kate exhaled as we spent our last day in Pennsylvania before going back to California. I gotta admit I was happy my mom was making progress and being released I'm more than ecstatic about her recovery. I'm fortunate she's healthy but shit that didn't change the fact that I questioned if she fully changed.

"I'm just a little tired I guess" I exhaled rubbing my hands down my face as we waited for my mom outside her facility. "Can we not bring up the baby situation?" I mumbled glaring at Kate as she looked at me a bit offended. "What?" I asked as she rolled her eyes. "I'm not mad I just don't want to overwhelm her right now" I gulped. "At least not today or until we're sure" I mumbled crossing my arms as I shut one eye in the sun.

"I understand" Kate said as I took a deep breath becoming impatient as I took a cigarette out lighting it. "Gross" Kate scoffed as I glanced at her then down at my cigarette lighting it. "You're gross" I inhaled as I exhaled my smoke to the side. "You need to stop smoking" She said as I rolled my eyes hitting my cigarette. "Eventually" I scoffed licking my lips looking around. "I love you and it's bad for you" She exhaled as I slowly turned my vision to her.

"I'm working on it" I mumbled tossing my cigarette not finishing it as I slid my hands in my pockets. "There she is" Kate said as I raised my eyebrows clenching down on my jaw. She looked beautiful as always as I smiled small slowly walking up to her and her nurse. "I'm sure you can take it from here" The nurse smiled as I scoffed taking my moms bag putting the strap over my shoulder. "Thank you" I mumbled slowly wrapping my arms around my moms neck hugging her tightly. "Hey kid" My mom laughed out rubbing my back as I rocked side to side a little kissing her head. "How are you?" I closed my eyes exhaling pulling away slowly looking at her.

"Better" She smiled at me as I looked over at Kate.
"I'm so happy you're coming" Kate said giving my mom a hug as I scoffed stepping back. "Alright lets go" I said walking ahead unlocking the car as I took a deep breath placing my moms bag in the trunk. "Wow nice Danny" My mom said folding her arms about my car as I scoffed opening her door. "Thanks" I said as she smiled getting in the passenger seat.

I raised my eyebrows up at Kate who was tilting her head as her hair was flowing in the wind. "You know I love you" I scoffed pecking her lips as I opened the back door she laughed a little getting in the back.

"What is all this mess?" My mom laughed running her fingers through my curls as I scoffed looking at the road. "Chill" I smiled small moving her hand as Kate laughed a little. "I need a haircut" I replied focusing on the road glancing at Kate in the mirror then back at the road. "You like his hair?" My mom asked Kate as I scoffed Kate laughed nodding her head "Yes" She said.

"She likes everything about me" I mumbled as my mom laughed a little, I licked my lips glancing in the mirror at Kate rolling her eyes. I found it pretty cool that Kate was able to meet my mom she understood everything about me and all the baggage that I came with she's never judged me. And for that I loved her a lot I never wanted to lose her she was slowly becoming a huge part of my life.
If she is carrying my child it's the best gift she could ever give me and forever I will be grateful for her.
