Pulling up to work I rush in fixing my ponytail noticing the little rush going on. I look over at my friend Sarah who's been my best friend for 5 years since I've been working at the cafe getting slammed with customers as I passed by. "I'm here Im here" I exhaled getting behind the counter clocking in immediately. We actually applied together, got interviews on the spot at the same time and got hired starting together. We thought it would be super cool to go to school then work with your best friend, Who knew how awesome it would be?

She rolls her eyes at me slowly smiling talking to the customer in front of her as I glance over at her laughing a little noticing Mr Williams. He's 70 years old and he's a regular at the cafe who likes to give us a hard time everyday. According to Mr Williams who gets the the same cup of black coffee everyday, It always taste different. He finds ways for us to re-make his drinks so he can observe us doing it making sure it's correct. Yes that one customer that no matter how much you kill them with kindness they always find something to be unhappy about. That one customer where everyone hides in the back when they walk in kind of customer. If you're so unsatisfied and unhappy just go make coffee at home? Why keep coming back.

"I'm here" I exhale walking in the back past everyone as I go to clock in. Yes I've been here for 5 years and I make quite decent money enough to buy food, pay my car, phone and maybe get a new cover girl lip gloss here and there. Taking my jacket off hanging it up in the break room I take my charger out purse plugging my phone in setting it on the break table.
I peek into the managers office seeing her getting ready to leave. "Heading home Whitney?" I asked my boss.

"Oh Katelyn thank you for coming in I have a very important meeting I have to go to can you cover the rest of the shift and close with Sarah?" She insisted while pacing through her belongings. With the most fakest smile I nod blinking a few times. "Sure" I pressed my lips together as I thought to myself how I was hoping to knock this shift out and go home to watch Lifetime and relax. She then thanks me walking past me shutting her office as I lean against her door for a second looking up putting my hands on my hips letting out a deep breath.

"This day will go fast this day will go fast" I say to myself quietly as I walk from the back out seeing Sarah cleared out the whole store front by herself rubbing the back of my neck. "Jesus I was coming" I scoffed. Looking at her smile in her phone texting her boyfriend I roll my eyes and turn around starting new coffee. "I wouldn't have answered my phone I never do when it says "Work" that's the best part of caller ID" Sarah said as I laughed under my breath.

"Yeah I wish I could say no but I need the money and she seems to never let me talk my way out of it" I said as Sarah hops on the counter swinging her legs. "Well maybe if you didn't dedicate your life to this place, I'm happy I went part-time for school" She said shrugging refilling the napkin holder.
"I know I need to get out of my moms house you're lucky you get to experience hot athletes and dorms" I sighed as she laughed with her head back. "Oh please I am not a whore you know I love Cameron" She said in defense as I roll my eyes.

"Yeah if you can trust each other with him being at the mall and you being as far as the parking lot" I scoff saying as she hops down from the counter dropping her mouth and nudges me. "Oh stop it I'm working on it" She implied.
She began to help me clean up wiping down the coffee counters. "If you didn't leave me left for dead I'd have a roommate and wouldn't be living in the jungle house" I slowly turned my vision to her.
"Oh come on it's so easy to find a roommate!" Sarah insisted placing her hands on her hips.

I stop slamming a cup down rolling my eyes at her.
"What do you mean so easy? I can't just live with just anyone" I exhaled as she puts up the "away" sign at the counter and grabs my hand dragging me to the office, I laugh trying to not trip while pacing. "Ok ok fine show me" I said following her. Letting go of her grip I lean on the doorway in the office crossing my arms watching her closely. She sits in the chair pulling up the web browser as she looks at me, I look back and forth over my shoulder to keep a eye out for customers.

"Come here you're not helping being security you don't get paid enough for that" Sarah says sarcastically scoffing under her breath as I roll my eyes and walk over to the desk watching her put up a "looking for roommate" AD.
