4PM AT WORK

"Yes mam unfortunately for the extra whip topping on the macchiato it is a additional fifty-cents" I smile innocently talking to a customer, I'm exhausted running around like a chicken with my head cut off. We are so busy today with summer coming along, Sarah is leaving soon, I'm unsure how i'm going to manage training new people minors at that.

I finish off cashing out a customer as I finish taking a few orders I feel a tap on my shoulder.
" So how's that AD coming along? Were you alone with Danny last night?" Sarah bites down on her nail smiling at me.

"Oh please he had to use the bathroom it was a coincidence timing" I scoff rolling my eyes.
"I can't believe he's into Janet she's so passed around" She whispered starting a latte shaking her head.

"Well then they kind of suit each other" I laugh leveling out levels with my hands. "But he did make a weird comment about asking what i'm looking for in a roommate" I press my lips together raising my eyebrows as I slide a drink onto the counter to a customer walking around Sarah. "Have a nice day" I smile.

I exhale slowly looking around the cafe as I put my hands on my hips tired.
"I set up a few interviews with people today during break hopefully I can find someone sane" I say.
"Or maybe you should just save yourself the time and ask Danny" Sarah raises a brow implying.
I laugh sarcastically looking down at my phone for a quick second scrolling.

"Yeah and spare the misery too?" I sigh.
"Maybe you two will end up liking each other" Sarah says smiling as she slides a customer a drink then looks at me.
"He did make a weird comment about my make up last night saying I didn't need it" I say quoting with my fingers folding my arms. "He also wiped a spot off I missed" I exhaled explaining as Sarah smiled big listening. "He even awkwardly stopped me placing his hand on my stomach I felt like a butterfly nest hatched inside me" I sighed tilting my head folding my arms.

"Maybe he sees something he likes" She insists giving me a flirty look as I roll my eyes wiping down counters I hear the door chime. I look up seeing a cute blonde haired guy walking in looking around.

"Look what the cat dragged in he's cute" Sarah says raising a brow playing with her hair.
"Good he's my first interview" I smile taking off my apron handing it to her as I push my hair back walking out from behind the counter with a pen and paper.

"Hi i'm Katelyn! You must be Liam" I introduced myself.

I shake his hand as he slowly walks over to a table following me he smiles. "Nice to meet you" He says.
I think to myself how polite and handsome he is and how he's got really great style.
"Sorry for the late response I hate to pull you away from work" He apologizes rubbing his arms.

I open my mouth slowly, "Oh no worries it's totally fine i'm kinda in need of this asap" I smile.
I start going over the do's and don'ts I have listed down and the splitting of rent and utilities.
He sits back nodding listening like a gentleman as I was quite impressed.
"So do you have any other questions or concerns?" I ask tapping my pen lightly on the table as I think I might of found the perfect room mate I slowly crinkle up my list.

"Um how do you feel about my son living with me?" He asked as I held a fake smile slowly un-crinkling my list sighing.

Can my life get any worst?

Thirty minutes pass and after me denying Liam who seemed like the whole package I've interviewed 5 people with nothing. My life cannot get any more complicated as I sigh putting my head down on my arms feeling a gentle tap looking up.

"Maybe you should be less strict?" Sarah laughs a little sitting down next to me sliding me a coffee.
I put my elbow on the table with my fist to my cheek sipping some. "Maybe I should get another job and say forget a roommate and summer" I exhale slowly.

I hear another door chime, annoyed at this point I don't look and stand up tying my apron back on.
I look at Sarah who slowly rubs her lips together walking away quickly. "Well good luck" She said.
Confused I watch her walk away not even looking over my shoulder yet before I hear papers slap on the table. I look up and see no other than Danny Leyman with his hands in his pockets smiling.

My eyes widen as I try to walk away putting my hands up. "Oh no no no no" I say turning around to walk away as steps in front of every step I make blocking me smiling with his hands in his pockets.
"It's discrimination to put up a AD and not accept a interview it's false advertising you know" He squints his eyes at me.

"Move Leyman in your dreams it's not happening i'm not interested" I narrow my eyes placing my hands on my hips.
"This is cute" He mumbled looking down tugging at my apron as I slapped his hand away.

He looks down at his phone for a second then up at me. "Well you leave me no choice but to spare my time and stand here" He looks around then at me shrugging.
I confidently smile, "I can kick you out of here this is harassment at my job you know" I whisper folding my arms.

He raises his eyebrows as he nods rubbing down the sides of his mouth. "That was ah cute but i'm not intimidated go ahead" He scoffs under his breath.
He pulls out a chair sitting down as he smirks leaning back stretching. "Besides I don't believe i'm committing a crime here let's keep shit real" He says exhaling. "This is a public place and I like coffee" He narrows his eyes smiling.

He then slides his phone on the table with my AD pulled up. "This is a public invite" He mumbled.
I take a deep breath rolling my eyes as I rip the chair back sitting down staring at him. "I'll make your life a living hell" I smile confidently folding my hands on the table as I cleared my throat.

He tilts his head to the side fake thinking looking away then at me. "What's your definition of hell per se?" He licks his lips fighting back a flirtatious smirk as I noticed his dimples.

"Why can't you move in with one of your girlfriends?" I fake smiles.
"I don't have a girlfriend" He blinks a few times.

"Well any of your little prostitutes then" I say tapping my pen on the table.
"It's almost cute when you get jealous" He folds his hands on the table leaning in closer smiling small as I gulp sitting up straight.

I put a strand of hair behind my ear looking down at my list as I then turn the paper his direction and slide it over. He examines it slowly for a second then raising his eyebrows as he slides it back. "Cake" He mumbled.

"I'm serious about rules Danny you have to respect my space" I beginning to count on my fingers. "Rules and regulations being you're the opposite gender" I exhale. "What are you eighty?" He raises a brow. "And that shouldn't be a problem you're not my type" He says shrugging.

My mouth opens but nothing comes out as I feel my heart kinda sink from the insult. "Alright then we can go look tomorrow I don't work is 3 okay?" I shut my mouth slowly pressing my lips together.

He gets up sliding the chair in as he pulls up his pants yawning with his closed fist to his mouth.
"I have somewhere to be make it 4:30" He demanded as he exhaled walking away without looking back. "It was nice doing business with you Myers" He yelled saluting with his fingers leaving.

I watch him walk out shaking my head breathing heavy all I can think about is what did I just get myself into he's a complete fucking dick who just insulted me. Maybe I should just torture him and embarrass him in front of company since he's so confident he wants this.

Maybe just maybe someone can play Danny Leyman better at his own game.
