SAVED FOR A RAINY DAY

- in which jungkook confesses to you on a rainy day in the park

"Is your coffee good?" Jungkook enquires, his voice soft in an almost shy way as he glances at you with a small smile, his doe eyes big and practically gleaming with expectancy. Chuckling at the sheer purity he possess, you nod, tilting your cup in his direction as you take one last sip and pass it to him. He looks down at the cup in confusion then up at you with his eyebrow raised.

"Don't lie to me, Jeon," you tease, pointing your finger accusingly at him. "I saw you eyeing my drink. I told you that you should get a large but no, you didn't listen."

He sheepishly shrugs, his hand habitually reaching up to scratch the back of his head as you roll your eyes and nudge him in the ribs with your elbow playfully. "Drink up."

Nodding thankfully, he brings the cup to his rosy pink lips and sighs once the caffeine slides down his throat, bringing up his body temperature instantly. You watch in amusement as your hands seek warmth and refuge inside your pockets, tearing your eyes away from your endearing friend to cast a worried look to the skies.

"It looks like it's going to rain," you muse, clicking your tongue in annoyance as you realise that perhaps it would've been wise of you to bring an umbrella from home. Jungkook hums thoughtfully, his attention now diverting itself to the dreary weather, his lips pulled into a frown.

"Maybe it wasn't so wise for us to head out today," he mumbles, picking up his pace to shorten the amount of time the two of you have to spend out in the cold. Giggling, you jog to catch up, grabbing onto his forearm to get him to slow down a little, offering him a reassuring smile as he turns to look at you in concern.

"It'll be fine, Kook. It doesn't look like it will rain just yet," you explain, your hand still holding onto his arms as he slows his pace down and walks closely by your side, his body heat warming you up in the best way possible, the faint scent of coffee and new books washing away the always depressing scent of old muck and wet concrete.

"But your bus? We still have a long way until the bus stop," he argues, his lips jutting themselves out into a pout, lowering his head in a way that brings his chocolate coloured locks down to cover his eyes.

"I am aware of that but it doesn't matter. It's not often that I get to spend time with you so I plan on making good use of every second, rain or not," you insist, winking as his mouth simply falls open in surprise, his mind falling blank when trying to come up with a way to reply. Instead he sighs, the tension loosening in his muscles as he nods, your grip on his forearm tightening as the two of you leisurely walk in comfortable silence.

You and Jungkook had the pleasure of running into each other in the 12th grade. It wasn't hard for the two of you to find some things in common and start building a friendship. You began doing everything with him, even going together for the dance as friends. However, your plan to spend ample time together during university was one based purely on hope. Jungkook got himself into a performing arts course while you went towards literature. With two very different schedules and impatience towards waiting for the holidays, it became hard to organise appropriate times to hang out.

So when opportunities—like today's cancellation of classes—rise, you don't hesitate in calling up Jungkook to plan a day out. Besides, what can a little rain do?

You feel the first drop of cool rain hit the tip of your nose, immediately tugging on Jungkook's arm to let him know of the slow start to the rain only to find him holding his free hand out, the small drops of rain hitting his smooth skin. He suddenly snaps his fingers, politely asking you to let go as he shrugs off his backpack, digging through it as the two of you stop to the side of the walkway, your hands shaking as the rain gradually begins to pick up its speed.
