"Here we are, standing on a wide stony track, do you feel the breeze?" You can see said breeze moving his hair a little, surprise flitting through you as you glance warily at him. You didn't think it would since he only visits you in spirit.
The boy chuckles silently, nodding to your question with a heart shaped smile.
"Not that I'm complaining or anything, I love your visits. I just never thought you'd keep coming back but you do...just between you and me, I think you're changing a bit. I see less Hoseok and a bit more sunshine, but there's a way to go yet." You voice out, running your gaze over your now pouting boyfriend, his own eyes running tiredly over his appearance.
This wind is somewhat cooling, refreshing in combination with sunshine. You didn't think the rays would be so strong today but there's almost a kiss of summer to it. To your right is a woodland that is almost out of place for this area of the world, there are buds on the branches denuded by winter and on the floor are still remnants of last season's leaves, but then you were blessed with a mild winter. These deciduous types with their various shades of bark remind you of Gwangju, the branches awaiting new spring greens take you back to times long gone, but now isn't the time for one of your mental detours.
You aren't here to see these trees, lovely though they are. Slowly, you turn to the right and cast your eyes over the scrubby flat land to the hill beyond.
Hoseok smiles sadly at you as you take in the view, commenting on all the pretty things you see.
He knows he's not there. Anymore, that is. He knows he was once able to hold you and admire sights like this with a smile of his own but fate had other plans for him. And while he does love coming to see you, his heart can't help but crack each time you glance over at him.
You force yourself to believe that he's okay and right beside you, not bleeding out on the road or being lowered into the earth like he was several months ago.
Your sunshine is gone but who can survive without light?
You turn to Hoseok, eyes meeting his almond shaped ones. You notice the falter of his smile and walk towards him, ghosting your hand through his. "I'm not ready to let go."
And with that, he fades, smiling sadly at you as you fall to your knees and sob, the view around you no longer magical or peaceful.
