NOT THAT BAD- in which jin takes you out for dinner in an attempt to get to know you better; sequel to RUDE requested by LoveBangtan_Girl
"Jin?" You hesitantly call, gulping when his concentrated gaze flicks up from his laptop screen to meet your eyes, a small sounding hum of acknowledgement signalling you to continue. "Can we call it a day?"
He raises an eyebrow at you, the corners of his lips twitching up into a teasing smile, his hands slowly lowering the screen of his laptop so he can focus on you. You suddenly feel stupid for asking the question, shaking your head dismissively as you reluctantly go back to working.
"Stop," he sighs, pulling your laptop away from you before you have the chance to protest, clearly finding your determination to keep working admirable. In any other circumstance, he'd opt for politely telling you to suck it up before getting back to work himself but he finds himself desiring a break too, his sentences becoming lazy and vision getting blurry from staring at the screen too long.
"We can pack up for today and finish the rest tomorrow," he offers, scoffing when your face immediately brightens, the colour slowly returning to your cheeks as you hastily shove everything into your backpack. He shakes his head in amusement as he quickly follows your actions, jogging to catch up to you as you rush yourself out of the library, desperate for some more food and sleep.
Jin makes a sound of annoyance from not too far behind you, his warm and long fingers securing themselves around your wrist as he stops you for what has to be the fourth time today. Already used to this type of treatment, you halt your steps and cast a curious look over your shoulder.
"I wanted to ask if you'd like to accompany me for some dinner," he gruffly offers, looking the tiniest bit sheepish as you crack a grin, quickly hiding it behind your hand. "It's getting late and I don't want you to go home on an empty stomach."
"I'd love to, thanks!" You accept with a laugh, doubling over when he rolls his eyes, the lightest of pinks dusting his cheeks endearingly. He motions to the exit with a tilt of his head and resumes walking, almost hesitantly dropping your wrist. Your lips part in surprise, the look morphing into a smug smile as you shake your head and rush to catch up, thanking him as he holds the door open for you.
You wait for him on the sidewalk, shivering slightly as the cool of the spring breeze runs itself over your bare arms, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind. You involuntarily let out a gasp at the sudden change in temperature, wishing you would've brought a thin jacket or something.
Jin presses his shoulder against yours, immediately noticing the goosebumps that decorate your arm, a small smile of fondness stretching out his plump lips. Shaking his head, he nudges your shoulder lightly, giving you a once over when you slowly let your gaze settle on his face.
"Are you cold?" He asks with slight concern, already taking off his backpack to slide off his jacket, nearly laughing as you nod to his question, your teeth chattering quietly. Without wasting another second, he places his jacket over your shoulders, only letting go once you arms are in. You relish in the warmth his jacket wraps around you, sighing as the faint scent of his cologne makes itself home on the skin of your neck and in the air surrounding you.
He almost coos at the way you visibly bury yourself further into his jacket, your smile practically glowing as he leads you down the road, motioning towards a small restaurant that sits welcomingly in between two clothing stores. Your curiosity grows as you near the place, the people inside looking as if they're enjoying their meals and the company that they're in, the whole vibe of the place making your smile widen.
He ushers you in, directing you towards a table near the back, waving politely as some of the waiters and waitresses as they walk past, greeting him with warm smiles. You assume that he must be a regular here, the lady behind the counter calling out his name to gain his attention, chuckling to herself when he offers her an enthusiastic wave.
"You come here often?" You ask to confirm your suspicions, sighing in relief when you take a seat, mindlessly scanning over the menu as he takes his time in making himself comfortable. You notice that Jin's usual deadpan has been replaced with an easy going smile, his shoulders relaxed and eyes wide with youth and wonder. He looks so much more open and approachable than what he does in the classroom, your heart rapidly beating against your chest at the realisation.
"Every chance I get, actually. The food here is delicious and I quite like the small chatter that always seems to fill the place up," he answers honestly, barely sparing the menu a glance as he raises his hand to attract the attention of a waiter, more specifically one with honey blonde hair and thin framed glasses, his smile of surprise upon seeing Jin showing off his two dimples.
"Jin hyung," the man greets, tripping over the leg of a chair as he jogs over. You wince as you hold your hands out, sighing in relief when the man simply straightens himself with a chuckle and walks the last few steps.
"Be careful, Namjoon-ah," Jin laughs, closing his eyes as he shakes his head in entertainment, the younger flicking his curious gaze to you, smile warm yet inquisitive. You return his smile with one of your own, sticking your hand out.
"I'm Y/N, Jin's partner for a school project. It's lovely to meet you, Namjoon, I'm assuming?" You introduce, feeling proud of yourself when the clumsy male takes your hand in his, nodding along to your question before quickly letting go to scribble down a few things on his notepad.
"Just the usual, hyung?" The younger asks to which Jin nods, looking over at you expectantly. You stutter for a bit before simply asking Namjoon to just give you whatever Jin's having, the dimpled boy laughing at your blunder as he politely nods at you.
"Well, it was delightful to meet you, Y/N. You're the first friend I've seen him bring here so I hope I'll be seeing more of you. Your orders will be ready shortly," He chirps, bouncing on his heels as he rushes off, sliding your orders across the counter before floating his way towards another table.
The news isn't surprising in the least. Jin is known for his abruptness and demands, making it ridiculously hard for people to be able to put up with him but as you've been fortunate enough to realise, underneath all that mysterious exterior is actually a really sweet person with a love for this tiny restaurant and the people that work in it.
Jin laughs nervously, his hand reaching up to rub the back of his neck as you stare at him with your eyebrows raised. "First friend?"
"Yes, Y/N," he sighs, "you and I both know that I'm not exactly the most liked person in the class."
"Well, I'm glad that I'm the first," you confess, flashing him a toothy grin. "And I'm also glad that I've been able to see that you're not as bad as everyone thinks you are, Kim Seokjin. Maybe you'd be willing to let me come with you the next time you decide to stop by here."
"Of course, you're always welcome to tag along," He answers, sending you a grateful smile, his head lowering in slight embarrassment, the tips of his ears reddening at your comment. You allow yourself to laugh, throwing your head back, his childish complaints sending you into another fit of laughter.
"Rude," he mumbles, a smile of joy and contentment gracing his features as his deep, brown eyes sparkle with affection.
