I'm tired now

The blurry afternoon still haunts your dreams.

You can clearly remember the smell of the blooming spring flowers as you loaded the car for the trip to the beach with your mother and father. You were to have a last trip before your leave to Uni, meaning this would've been extra special.

Of course, good things never last.

On the drive there, your nerves wouldn't calm themselves and you just couldn't figure out what you were getting so worked up over. It was like you had the feeling that you were going to lose everything.

It had taken three steps for your life to completely fall apart. The first one being that your dad's brakes stopped working. Second, the truck driver turning the corner wasn't planning on slowing down.

All that was left was the two of you to collide.

Miraculously, you got out with a few scratches but the images of your father's body thrown out the windshield, covered in the thick crimson while your mother lay slumped over her seat, her neck bent at an odd angle will never leave your mind.

From there, you spent a few years in hospital to recover from the trauma and met Hoseok, the nurse who was your light through everything. He's always been there through your panic attacks, sleepless nights and constant feeling of crushing sadness.

You twist the bracelet around your wrist subconsciously, counting down the minutes until Hoseok comes back home from work so you can cuddle him. Deciding it'd be weird to just sit and do nothing, you switch on the news to help pass the time.

"Investigators are struggling to clear through the destruction caused on Leatherman's road. It is reported that a truck and mini van collided head on, resulting in all but the truck driver to suffer an unfortunate fate."

By now, your mind has blocked out the words, your airways being clogged as you see your parents dying right in front of you. You choke and gasp, clawing at your throat as tears roll down your cheeks unbeknownst to you.

It feels like you're going to die.

Soon, everything feels like it's on fire, your screams turning into strangled gasps. The sound of keys jingling is loud and clear as a muffled voice rings out. Another yell before hands grab onto your shoulders, rubbing up and down to soothe you.

You shake your head and cry some more, clumping bits of Hoseok's shirt in your hands. You can feel yourself fading, your ability to hold on growing weaker. Hoseok places your hand on his chest and counts like he practiced with you.

It works, your breathing slowing to a fast but fixable rate. Although, you had been without air for too long.

You feel lightheaded as your vision darkens, your body slumping into Hoseok's as you pass out. He grunts in surprise, kissing your forehead shakily before laying you down. He shrugs his jacket off and notices the tv on.

Sighing, he pulls his water bottle out of his bag and sits so your head can rest comfortably on his lap. As quickly as possible, he rewinds, eyes widening at the trigger of your panic attack.

You stir against his leg, sitting upright with a gasp. Hoseok holds your hand, reminding you that it's ok before helping you drink out of his bottle.

"You ok now?"

You nod, curling up into a ball beside him. He tsks and hugs you, cradling you to his chest as you sniffle.

"If you feel like this again, please call me. I love you so much and hate to see you hurt like this."

The exhaustion catches up to you as you nod, falling asleep to his hand running through your hair.
