Alara POV

Ezra drove for ten minutes before he pulled over on the side of the road and turned his hazards on.

I didn't have the guts or heart to tell him that I already signed the papers. I really didn't.

"I didn't mean to raise my voice at you baby. I really didn't." He said in a calmer voice.

I nodded, but still didn't say anything.

"But on that same note I need you to understand what this means. Libya is in an ongoing civil war, has been since Gadaffi was killed. I've been there and I've seen the worst of what mankind has to offer. Egypt or Libya that's the last place I want you to be."

He reached over and took my hand. "Baby girl you have a big heart and so much love. You do and I love the most about you. But over there... that will get you killed. Trust me I only care for your safety."

I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. And in that moment when I looked in his eyes he knew.

"You already signed the papers?" He said in a voice that made my heart break.

I nodded and he closed his eyes.

We sat in silence for awhile. I felt like I had so much to say yet I couldn't even articulate my words.

My phone buzzed and I looked down at it. It was my Dad.

I turned off my phone and looked back at Ezra. He looked deep in concentration. I really could not read him. At this point though I was afraid to even know what he was thinking.

When he finally opened his eyes he let go of my hand abruptly.

My heart started to pound as he got out of the truck.

"Ezra what are you doing?!" I said in a bit of breathless voice. Was he about to leave me here?

He crossed in front of the headlights and came over to my side. When he opened my door I turned and pressed myself up against the center console.

"You're not going to tie me to a tree to keep me in this country!"

"Alara get out of the truck." He said he said as he reached around my waist to undo the seatbelt.

"Are you crazy, no! We're on the side of the road Ezra." I yelled. I tried to snatch back the seatbelt but his strong grip refused to budge.

"Can you please just get out? I need to show you something."

Oh my god... I broke him.

"What do you need to show me? Ezra its about to rain. Get back in please." I pleaded.

"Just one minute. Then I will take you home." He said.

He wasn't giving this up...

I huffed and let the seat belt go. "If you try and tie me to a tree I will bite your face off." I grumbled.

He stood back as I slid out of the truck and crossed my arms. "Now what?"

He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the front of the truck. The bright head lights were in my face and already attracting moths and bugs.

I could also hear thunder nearby and the trees were really going wild with the wind. We should not be out here. There wasn't even a star visible in the sky.

Out of my peripheral vision I saw him go down and I frowned. "Ezra what are yo-"

When I looked down at him he was looking up at me resting on one knee.
