XV. Jobs and Questions

Storybrooke. Present day.

HANDING DAVID A mug of coffee, Erica sat herself down on the desk, glancing  at her father looking all lost and confused as to why he was here made Erica's heart plummet into her stomach but she knew if she wanted to keep doing this job and make Regina think she had no idea what was really going on in this town, she had to follow where the trail took her and right now that trail took her towards David Nolan 

"Thank you" David mutters taking the mug into his own hands before twisting it around as he fidgets, his eyes locking onto the ground  and sighs "I hope Katheryn is somewhere warm and not in the cold"

"I think you need to start worrying less about other people and more about yourself. I'm not saying it to be harsh or cynical, I hope you know that, but your wife is missing and you're in love with another women and not to mention there's this unexplained phone call" Erica tells him, knowing that she had to do her job and had to put her feelings to one side no matter how much it hurt her to do so

"I know. I know. I just..." David shakes his head at a loss for words "I can't explain what that is. I didn't do anything to my wife"

"I'm pretty good at spotting a liar" Erica began making David's eyes widen "Honestly liars have better material" and it was true because usually she had to force them to start talking by using a number of different tactics "But for now, go home and get some rest"

"I can go?"

"We don't even know whether there has been a crime yet so theres no point holding you here so go home and get some rest,  but I would advise you to get a lawyer just in case it comes down to that" She tells David as she holds open the door for him before heaving a heavy sigh as soon as he leaves the station. Her and Emma will have to find some way to break the curse soon or this could get a lot worse...

Storybrooke. Present day.

Erica wants to cry when she bumps into Mary Margret, Emma and Gemma outside of the station because she knows what they're going to ask. One; they'll ask whether David is okay ands what the situation with that is and two; they'll ask who that girl was who hugged Erica (especially Emma) as they hadn't seen her before 

"Is he okay?" Was the first question that slipped from Mary Margret's lips "David?"

"A little shaken up but yeah he's fine" Erica tells the curious trio 

"Any word on Kathryn?" Emma asks her sister 

Erica shakes her head "Nothing new"

"Have you checked with Boston again" Mary Margret interrupted, not giving up

"She's not there Mary Margret"

Mary Margret sighed "So we have no idea what happened to her?:

"All we know is that she found out about you two, gave you a slap and then disappeared" Erica tells the group  talking specifically to the raven haired teacher and all they fall into silence for a couple of steps until Emma pipes up

"A well deserved slap"

The comment makes Erica and Gemma look over towards Emma. who shrugs but looks unapologetic and forces Mary Margret to stop in her tracks  and turn towards the blonde as she echos what Emma had said to her "'A well deserved slap' do you really believe that?"

"No" Erica cut whatever her sister was going to say, not trusting Emma completely right now especially if she's coming from a place of anger and relaying her own regret from her past mistakes onto Mary Margret "No, she's just preparing you for what people are going to say and are saying"
