Storybrooke. Present-day.
HER BODY EXPECTED chaos.
That was all Erica had known for the past year and a half -- or however long it had been since she had come to Storybrooke, and while she had been dragged into the depths of unconsciousness her mind replayed the battle...Only this time they didn't win.
(Only this time she couldn't save everyone in time.)
(This time she was their destruction.)
It felt like Erica had been hit over the head multiple times as her eyes slowly peeled open and then instantly shut again. Protesting against the harsh fluorescent light of the room that she was in. Her heart was still beating abnormally fast and when she took a deep breath in as much as her weakened body would allow, Erica could hear the methodical droll of beeping equipment

Even though her limbs were sprawled out on their chair in what looked like the most uncomfortable position and Jaclyn looked paler than Erica had ever seen her with dark rings under her eyes that one could see even against the tanned skin, she had never been more relieved to just watch Jaclyn's chest rise and fall with every breath she took.
"Jack..." Erica tried to speak, her voice rough and scratchy from misuse.
Giggles burst out of their mouth and even though it hurt like hell, Erica couldn't make them subside, because upon hearing Erica's voice. Jaclyn opened her eyes and twisted in the chair, and due to the way Jaclyn was lying, the chair tipped and clattered to the floor and her lovable idiotic pirate tumbled to the floor and rolled onto her front in order to push herself back up and into an upright position as she made her way over to the small hospital bed and sat down on the edge of it, carefully pinning Erica with a look that made Erica's own heart crack into /
