THE SEA ROARED around them with so much force that Erica could hear it over the cannon fire and the ring of swords. Metal grated against metal as everyone fought for the upper hand. Rain pelted and slashed down at them so hard that it began to hurt and make their vision blurry but still, both sides pressed on neither willing to lay down their swords and surrender

That for the people who are the ship, surrounded by legend and tales of their great feats, people who live and die by the sword with the word surrender not coded into their DNA. To do so would be the end of the world

Somewhere deep inside of her, Erica knew it was Calypso trying to give her and the crew the upper hand they so desperately clung to, knowing one more misstep and could lead to a big mistake, one that they couldn't claw back from

Everything was chaos and Erica really didn't know what to focus on other than the fact that she needed to keep one foot in front of the other and not die. This was her first big battle and no matter how hard she trained, what magic she learned or how many times Jaclyn told her that everything was going to be okay

Nothing could have prepared her for this

Erica had lost sight of Jaclyn long ago, despite attempts to keep eyes on her girlfriend

But she still heard the sharp crack of her voice which settled her storming thoughts as the once Captain shouted orders at her former crew and while she hoped Davy Jones didn't pick up on that -- and use it to turn the already favouring tide further in his direction and Erica prays that he doesn't notice while Jaclyn was still barking her orders but Erica uses her girlfriends voice as the ammunition she needed to press on

Magic burned in her veins, screaming to be released, they relied on her magic because that was what gave them the element of the unknown still. She was a powerful piece, with darkness and fire in her heart but willing to protect those she let into her heart and she would defend the crew of The Black Pearl -- her family -- until her last breath

With a deep breath, Erica let her magic go from her body. Vines wrapped their way around two men in Davy Jones's crew, squeezing ever tighter. That was when Erica saw just a glint of a sword -- Will -- cutting down the men who were still foolishly fighting against the vines.

Blood soaked the deck mixing with the rest of it most of it had been washed away by the never-ending rain, but Erica didn't allow herself too long to look as she spun around again. The water-logged deck made it slippy and hard for her boots to find the traction she needed

She kept her balance and kept going

Finally, her opponent made a mistake and became clumsy with fatigue, allowing her to bring her sword underhand where her opponent just wasn't quite quick enough to defend against the incoming attack. The blade pierced already rotting flesh and Erica drove it in as deep as she could and a pained scream that had been tried to be bit off reached her ears and it gave her a warped sense of pride that she could bring a man like this down to his knees.
