"At last..." mahina kong sabi. "Thank you. Will be there in a minute. I said to her and she walked away.
I closed all the folders I studied and piled it on one corner. Actually I'm not yet don finalizing all the cases they gave me dahil puro nasa komplikadong sitwasyon lahat iyon, understandable naman dahil mas maalam ako kaysa sa mga baguhang nakikita ko dito sa ospital. There, I called out Lory, pushing her cart full of injectables and medicines with her paraphernalias included.
Okay, calm down Reg. Kaya mo to. You've done this before, no need to panic and be nervous. This will be just a piece of cake. Breath in, breath out.
I may be going there just for one person but saying a greeting to everybody is a different story.
They were muttering and uttering words about something I can't understand.
Nilapitan ko na ang pasyenteng kailangan kong i-assess as pointed by Nurse Lory. I examined her face, her features—nakatingin lang ito sa malayo. May benda ito sa ulo, suffering from a bone fracture in the head according to the file Pops gave me. I cleared my throat before uttering, "Good morning, Ms. Delos Santos. I am your neurosurgeon, your case is assigned under my supervision."
"Uhm...can we check on you?" tanong ko at marahan naman siyang tumango. Nurse Lory checked her signs and once she was finished, lumayo na ito sa pasyente. I pressed it and I found the part which Ms. Delos Santos reacted because she suffered pretty much pain. This was the center of the fracture. Okay, left side of the head.
I swooped a ballpen on my pocket and wrote my observations denoting about her fracture. I didn't bother to ask her about anything, instead went on the other side of the bed and opened her drawers to check on her medicine. Alam kong may naunang neuro na nakapag-alaga sa kanya so I'm just checking if he or she gave the right dose of medication.
"Paracetamol...neurogen-e....pharex....damn, these are all branded and localized.
Instead of venting out my anger, niresetahan ko nalang ito ng ibang gamot. I wrote it on my personalized paper with my sign on it for a month worth of validity. I gave the receipt to her. "Here. Yan na ang mga bagong gamot mo. If you're insisting of using those lowlife products, wala na akong magagawa. Tell your watcher about this. You can now go back on what you were doing. Tapos na."
