Kyung Mi's POV

From time to time Kai would look back at me during the ride making sure I was okay. To say the least it was a thrill ride. It was nerving but eventually I got comfortable halfway home. When my house came into view Kai stopped along the curb parking the bike. I watched as he got off before unlocking the strap on the helmet. As he took it off of me he set it where he sat on the bike.

I hopped off the bike my legs feeling a little shaky. "Have a goodnight So Kyung Mi". Kai said as he put on his helmet and hopped on. "Thanks Kai you too". Kai nodded before I watched as he drove down the street disappearing in the night.

As I got into the house my dad was waiting up for me reading the newspaper. "Hey, kiddo you're home late". Dad said looking up over his paper. "I know sorry dad. I spent the whole evening looking for V, but I can't find her. On the walk she suddenly ran off which isn't like her. I only found her leash". I stated as I looked at her leash in my hands.

I heard dad sigh before putting a hand on my shoulder. "We'll look for her Kyung Mi. Don't worry she'll show up". He reassured me. I shook my head. "I don't think so dad. Clearly something happened if only I found her leash. She's the only thing I have of mom". I said as tears burned my eyes.

"You go get a good rest. I'll go look for her for you". Dad said as he stood us up. I looked up at him surprised. "I know how much V means to you, so I'll go looking. Where did you lose her at?" Dad asked. "I lost her at the park you used to take me when I was younger". I explained remembering where she ran off. Dad nodded. "Okay, you go get some sleep, I'll go looking. Don't worry I'll take pepper spray". He reassured me as I nodded. "Goodnight dad please be careful. I love you".

"Love you too Kyung Mi. I'll be careful". I watched as dad slipped on his jacket before grabbing his car keys. As he walked outside I only hoped he stayed safe. I couldn't lose him too.

Kai's POV

The whole night I lied awake thinking that I put Kyung Mi in danger by communicating with her. If they find out that I got involved with her, they'd be sure to go after her too. I kept telling myself that I couldn't get involved with anyone especially with Kyung Mi. But there she was in the meadow in line of their sight, I had to save her somehow. Save her from potential death. Those people showed no mercy on anyone. They were pure evil. I sighed before looking up at the ceiling. Another sleepless night as I feared they might have seen.

"You sighed for the hundredth time Kai. What's going on?" Chanyeol asked. I mentally hit myself for waking him up. "Sorry did I wake you?" I asked looking at his figure. "No the sound of the wind woke me up". Chanyeol said sarcastically.

"Sorry I woke you up. Go back to sleep". I whispered. I prayed that sleep would find me. But knew I wouldn't be that lucky. I was always plagued with nightmares. "If something is troubling you can tell me". Chanyeol said as he turned on the light. I blinked back the blindness looking over at Chanyeol. "I may have put someone at risk. Secretly from now on I'll have to protect that person". I whispered feeling my heart beat faster in my chest. I watched as Chanyeol's eyes widened. "Who Kai?" He asked.

I closed my eyes bracing myself. "So Kyung Mi". I whispered opening my eyes. "So Kyung Mi? Kai she's-"I know Chanyeol. I don't know what to do. I can't let her die because she accidentally stumbled into this mess. But she can't find out the truth". I stated feeling conflicted. I watched as Chanyeol pulled at his red dyed hair.

"The only thing you can do is befriend her. Protect Kyung Mi that way". Chanyeol suggested. I looked at him wide eyed. "I have to what?" I asked rubbing a hand over my face. "You know befriend her. It's the only way". He explained. "I know that. It's just. . . I'm afraid of hurting someone. Especially Kyung Mi. If she finds out the truth then I'm the bad person". I stated guilt filling my heart.

"It might be the only way Kai". Chanyeol's words rung in my head. I sighed letting my eyes close.

Two days later

Kyung Mi's POV

It had been two days since V went missing still no sign of her. I put up missing pet signs everywhere but no one has called. Even my younger brother Jae has tried to look for her. I picked at my breakfast as school was gonna start soon. "Kyung Mi you need to eat something. Your brain needs the food so you can focus in school". Dad said as he put juice in front of me. Jae immediately took a glass. "Better eat up Kyung Mi before I eat it". Jae jokes as he smirked. I slid my food over to him. "Have at it. I'm walking to school. Jae be good and no fights. Bye dad see you tonight". I said as I hugged each of them my brother groaning. I ruffled his hair earning a squeal from him. "You pabo you messed up my hair". Jae yelled.

When I arrived in school I sat in my usual spot waiting for our teacher to arrive. I watched as Kai walked in him not acknowledging me as he walked by me.

"Alright class since it is fall I had decided to give you new seating arrangements. You'll be sitting there for the rest of the year. If you hear your name go sit by your new desk mate. So Kung Mi you're gonna be sitting next to Kai. Li Sun you'll be with D.O". Our teacher said.

As I sat next to Kai he looked up at me before lying his head on the desk. There he is being cold again. When I looked more closely at him I couldn't help but notice a bloody bruise on his left temple. I had wondered how he got it but didn't bother getting into his business.

Why do I suddenly care? I shook my head and opened up my book. At the corner of my eye I could see Kai looking at me.
