Chapter Twenty

Kyung Mi's POV

"I'm sorry Chen but, I already like someone else". Once those words left my mouth I felt bad as Chen's face fell. Chen was well known for being a sweet guy, but unfortunately I already liked someone else. "It's okay I kind of already knew you liked someone else. Come on I'll walk you to see Kai". Chen tried masking his hurt, but it didn't go unnoticed. "Chen I'm sorry. I really am". I said feeling terrible.

"It's okay Kyung Mi, you can't change the feelings of who you like. I'm the one who should apologize I dumped this on you. I was harboring this secret for years. I was too scared to tell you that I liked you. So I figured that if I distanced myself from you that my feelings would go away, but it never happened. But I want you to know that I support you and Kai. As being his best friend I'm letting you go so that you can be together. Just treat him well okay? He's been through a lot and I'd hate to see him back on the ground. Take care of him Kyung Mi. His heart is much more fragile than you think". Chen said as we arrived at Kai's floor.

"H-How did you know it was Kai that I liked?" I asked surprised that he knew. Chen chuckled shaking his head. "For starters you been visiting him everyday and checking on him. And every time I mention him you blush so that's a give away. And another thing, he likes you Kyung Mi more than he cares to mention, Kai really ares about you". Chen confessed.

"Will you be okay?" I asked concerned of how off he'd be. Chen nodded a sad smile on his face. "I'll be okay. Now go, he'll enjoy some company. I'll see you later Kyung Mi".

Just as Chen was about to walk away I grabbed onto his wrist causing him to turn around. "Yes, Kyung Mi?" Chen asked his voice quiet. "Are we okay? I mean as friends". I asked my nerves spiking. I was scared he wouldn't want to be my friend after I rejected him. A smile came to his lips as he nodded. "Yes, were good Kyung Mi. No need to worry. Goodnight Kyung Mi". Chen said ruffling my hair before walking away.

I fixed my hair as I entered Kai's room to see him looking out the window. Upon seeing me his eyes widened. "Kyung Mi what are you doing here?" He asked his lilac hair a mess. "I came to see how you were doing. You're alone this time?" I asked noticing that his friends weren't guarding him.

"I'll be being discharged soon and Chanyeol is signing the papers now. And I'm better now, not quite a hundred percent. I wanted to thank you for the bear. It was really thoughtful". Kai said with a small smile. I nodded returning the smile. "You're welcome. I figure you'd need some company while being here". I stated.

Kai walked closer to me the moonlight complimenting his perfect skin. As he walked closer I swear my heart was going to burst. His dark brown eyes searched my face before falling to my wrist. He took my bandaged hand a frown prominent on his face. "I'm sorry that I hurt you while pushing you away from the speeding car. I wasn't intending for you to get hurt, only me". Kai apologized.

I could feel that Kai was sincere about his apology guilt mixed in his voice. Somehow Kai seemed to be changing slowly by the day, a side rarely seen. I felt honored to see this side of him. "It's okay, I'm okay I wasn't hurt badly. More than anything I blamed myself for you getting hurt. When I saw the car coming I just froze not knowing what to do. I'll forever be grateful that you saved me".

With Kai still holding my hand I felt at home. I felt safe. This felt right.

"As long as I'm still alive, I will always protect you". Kai whispered causing me to look up my heart rapidly beating.
