Chapter Sixteen

Kai's POV

"Why don't you go home Chanyeol and get some rest? I'll be fine here". I said as I looked at his tired figure. Chanyeol looked over at me before looking at the clock. "I'm not gonna leave you alone here. One you can't defend yourself. And two my family was hired to look after you, myself included. Leaving you here alone isn't an option. For now I'll be your personal body guard". Chanyeol spoke his tone serious. "A tired bodyguard won't do me good. As my friend I want you to rest. I'm sure they won't try and find me here. Besides the others are protecting Kyung Mi. Now go home and rest. There's no sense in making yourself sick worrying about me. And as your brother you need rest to heal your body. We both know that. Now go". I said as I pointed towards the door.

Chanyeol went to open his mouth, but then closed it. "Go get some much needed rest". I assured him as he slowly nodded. Chanyeol ran a hand through his red dyed hair standing up. "Fine, but call me if you feel unsafe or the others if I'm unreachable. Get some rest Kai". Chanyeol said walking towards the door.

I sighed looking at the letter left on my desk. All I could think about was Kyung Mi and that bear she got me. How did she know I liked bears? Only my adoptive family and friends know I like them. It was the only thing in my past that brought good memories.

Chanyeol's POV

As I said goodbye to Kai, I felt bad for leaving him, but knew here in a few minutes he would be protected by D.O and Suho. Those people could come out of nowhere and snatch him away from us. And if that were to happen then I'd fail my mission my duty as his protector of years. His family left my family and myself as Kai's legal protectors until further notice. But guarding him 24/7 was proven difficult when you were short of guards. It's why my parents are in the states looking for more guards just in case chaos breaks out on us.

Just as I was about to unlock my car, I felt a sharp pain in my head before my vision turned black.

Kai's POV

Both Suho and D.O were keeping me company while Chanyeol got some much needed rest. While I was happy to have company that weren't nurses, all I could think about was Kyung Mi. My thoughts consisted of the dark haired petite girl which worried me to the extent that I thought I was going insane. I shouldn't be thinking of her, yet I'm breaking my own rule for a girl. Kyung Mi was the first person I broke this rule for, but yet I can't bring myself to push her away. Something about her draws me in, she's got her claws deep within me. I shook my head with a sigh. Why does things have to be confusing especially when it comes down to one's feelings?

"Kai, you sighed like ten times in the last minute. What's going on?" Suho asked his tone filled with worry. I looked up confused. "Oh, I was just thinking of a solution to push away Kyung Mi, but I can't bring myself to do it. I'm too intrigued by her that she's consuming my every thought. It's driving me crazy. I never experienced this feeling before". I said genuinely confused.

A smirk came to D.O's face as he looked up from his phone. "Sounds like someone is getting a crush on someone". D.O teased. I couldn't have a crush. It's too dangerous. "I can't possibly have a crush. There has to be a different solution as to why I feel like this. I've never had this feeling before and it's confusing". I stated half out of fear and half out of realizing how dangerous it could be.

"You can't ignore these feelings of yours or lock them away. It's nearly impossible to do such thing. Kyung Mi needs to know how you feel. It's bad enough that she is roped into this, but you can change the outcome of keeping her protected. Only you can protect her from those people that in a way we can't. You can protect her pure heart. As for yours listen to what it is saying, it'll lead you in the right path". Suho encouraged.

Just as I was about to reply my phone went off signaling that I had a message. Not bothering to look at the number I opened the attachment my eyes going wide as I dropped the phone from my hands, it clattering to the floor with a thud.
