Chapter Thirty Eight

Chanyeol's POV

I gave Kai a gentle shake but got no response. Worry flashed through me as I could feel the heat radiating off of him. "He's running a fever, we need to get out of here". I said as I picked Kai up. "I'll let the others know". Suho said as he waved his phone. I nodded my worry increasing for Kai.

"It's not like Kai to run away from his problems. Something must of happened to make him in this state. What exactly happened to you when Mr. So took you? Ever since then Kai has barely spoken". I asked looking at Lay as he was quiet. I watched as Lay bit his lip looking at the ground.

"I think Kai should tell you himself. I'd much rather you hear it from him then me. Kai had to make a choice probably the hardest decision of his life. And he'd kill me if I told you. So just listen to what he has to say". Lay gave a small smile looking over at Kai.

That night I stayed up and watched over Kai making sure that he was okay and safe. I kept wondering what happened that morning, but nothing came to mind. It had to of been because of Mr. So it was the only solution. Mom and dad were still in the states looking for guards but left me in charge of keeping an eye on him. Ever since he came to my house I promised that I would always protect him. And I had planned to keep that promise.

Kai's POV

When I came to I could hear the sound of pages from a book being turned. I looked over to my left seeing Chanyeol flipping through a book a coffee mug resting in his other hand.

"I remember Chanyeol. I remember everything now". I whispered my voice hoarse. Chanyeol looked at me confused. "Remember what Kai?" He asked setting down his book. "I remember what Mrs. and Mr. So were after, the item that my parents died protecting. The day before they died they handed me the item to be in my protection. At the time I was confused. The item is this watch. It contains important valuable information, one that can't get in the wrong hands. It's some black list and that has their names on it. They wanted it to clear their names, but my parents beat them to it. Tell your parents I remember now". I insisted feeling tired.

I saw Chanyeol get up before nodding. "Alright I'll tell them and let them know you remember and that they need to come home. Get some rest okay. You need to recover". I nodded before grabbing onto his wrist stopping him. Chanyeol turned around raising a brow. "Yes, Kai?"

"Chanyeol, thanks for everything, but I must tell you something". Chanyeol nodded before taking a seat beside me. "Okay, I'll listen to what you have to say". I could tell that I had Chanyeol's undivided attention. I sighed feeling like my heart weighed a ton. "Kyung Mi found out before I could tell her the truth. I was planning on telling her but once she found out she broke up with me. All Kyung Mi sees me as is the murders son. She can't even look at me without seeing that. I didn't expect to fall for Kyung Mi, but I did and our relationship wasn't meant to be since the beginning. Instead it was just meant to crash and burn our hearts tarnished burning to ash. But my heart still beasts for her even if we're at odds with each other. Tell me Chanyeol do you see me as the murders son?" My voice broke and I absolutely hated that my facade was crumbling down. My heart was suddenly feeling soft and broken.

"Of course I don't see you as the murders son. I see you as my brother, the guy who will do anything for anyone. You're not at all what people make you out to be. You're the best person I know Kai. The best brother that was given to me and I'm glad that you're my brother. You shown me a new friendship within brotherhood and for that it was because of you. Maybe Kyung Mi will come around, she just might need some time. True love is a powerful thing that can do wondrous things or the greater good. Give her time your love may beat the odds. Love comes in different forms and yours was purely beautiful. And let me tell you this Kai, your story isn't over yet. It's just the beginning".
