Chapter Ten

Kyung Mi's POV

Waiting was the hardest thing a person could do. While it had only been twenty minutes felt like hours. Since I wasn't family they wouldn't tell me anything. Not knowing was what bothered me most. Even though I didn't know Kai personally I knew deep down inside there was a nice person. He just saved me from potential death. If it weren't for him I wouldn't be here. But also guilt ran through me as he was fighting for his life because of me.

"Is Kim Kai here? I was told by a nurse that he was in surgery. I'm his brother". I looked up at the nurses desk to see a red haired boy standing at the entrance. Park Chanyeol was Kai's brother? They must be step brothers. I tried not to listen in on the conversation but it was hard when my name was mentioned. All I wanted was to make sure that Kai was gonna be okay before I left.

I felt a presence beside me to notice that Chanyeol sat beside me his leg bouncing up and down. He looked my way before messing with his phone. The atmosphere was so tense you could cut it with a knife. I didn't have words to say my mind was blank.

"I heard you filed a police report on what happened. Did a car try running you down?" Chanyeol asked his voice shaky. I nodded looking at my shaking fingers. "Y-Yeah, I just got out of detention and was walking across the parking lot when the car came speeding my way. I froze on the spot. . . N-Next thing I'm being shoved and Kai's on the ground. He took the hit for m-me". Tears burned my eyes as I thought of what happened.

"Kyung Mi, listen to me carefully alright? Can you do that?" Chanyeol asked his full attention on me. Hesitantly I nodded wiping my eyes. "I don't want you around Kai right now. It isn't safe. Out in the parking lot my friend is out there he'll take you home. His motorcycle is red, you can't miss it". Chanyeol's words sent chills down my spine. What did he mean.

"What if I don't want to go? I want to stay and make sure Kai is alright. It's because of me he's fighting for his life". I stated. Chanyeol sighed rubbing his head. "Listen Kyung Mi, it's for your safety and others. It's not safe. If you let Chen take you home, he'll keep you safe. But as for now you're not safe here. Please just go with Chen". Chanyeol begged.

"Come on Kyung Mi, I'll take you home". Chen said appearing beside me. I looked up at him as he wore the same expression as Chanyeol's. "What's going on? Why isn't Kai safe? First he tells me to stay away from him, but then he talks to me anyway. And you two, why do you guys keep warning me? Is Kai being targeted?" I asked looking between the two. Both their eyes go wide telling me the answer. "Kyung Mi, you have to go now. It's not safe. You being involved with Kai will only put you at risk". Chen said tugging on my hand.

I looked at the two worried for all three of them. "What about you guys? What's gonna happen to you?" I asked my worry increasing. Chanyeol smiled before looking at Chen. "We can handle ourselves. I just have to guard Kai now. Chen take her home". Chanyeol said as he nodded towards Chen. "Come on Kyung Mi, let's go". I felt Chen pulling onto my wrist which made me hiss in pain. Immediately Chen stopped to look at me worry creasing his face.

"Does it hurt?" He asked gently touching the spot. I nodded. "Yeah, but I'll be fine". I said looking at his eyes different emotions crossing them. A smile suddenly appeared on his face. "You don't have to be brave Kyung Mi, not in front of me". He smiled as we continued to walk.

As we approached Chen's red motorcycle my memories came back to me that night I rode with Kai. That was a night I won't forget. I watched as Chen put the helmet on me before fastening it. He put his helmet on before getting on the bike. "Hang on tight okay. Where to?" Chen asked over the roar of his motorcycle.

"Mr. So I did as you were told that boy, shouldn't be a problem anymore". Mr. So turned around eyeing his partner. "Good that ought to teach him a lesson of knowing who's boss". Mr. So said as he patted his partner on the shoulder. "Like I said before that boy is nothing but trouble".
