Chapter Forty One

Kyung Mi's POV

All I could think about was Kai the whole entire day. No matter what I couldn't stop thinking about him. I don't know why I was treating him so badly. He didn't do anything wrong. But every time I see him all I can see him as is the murders son. I know he didn't play a part in it as he was a victim like me, but still it was his mom who killed my mother. But the only way that I could get space from him was if I switched seats.

While lying on my bed doing homework I could hear my dad yelling just down the hall from his office distracting me. My brother Jae came barging into my room covering his ears. "What is he venting and raving about now?" Jae asked flopping down beside me. I shrugged no longer able to do my homework. "You stay here. I'm going to find out". I said hopping off my bed.

I tiptoed towards his office leaning against the door. "I don't care if you can't come. I need more protection. This is the night where Kai will get me what I want. And if he doesn't you're the one to handle him. Be there in fifteen minutes". I heard dad yell making me scramble to my room grabbing my coat. "Jae stay here okay? I have somewhere I have to be".

I immediately grabbed my cell phone dialing Chen's number. "Come on pick up". I whispered running outside.

"Kyung Mi?" Chen's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Chen you need to help Kai. I think he's in danger". I hurriedly let out as I ran down the block. "Kyung Mi slow down what are you saying?" He asked his voice more alert. "I think Kai's in danger. I overheard my dad telling someone that if Kai doesn't get what he wants this person is to handle him in less than fifteen minutes. I don't know where it's at. But you have to stop him. I'll follow my dad to try and convince him to walk away". I said as I looked around.

"Kyung Mi, I don't think it's a good idea to get involved. Your dad would want you to stay out of it". "I can't Chen.  My dad could kill Kai and I have to stop him. I can't stand to see Kai get injured. Besides I know what my dad is after. My dad will kill Kai if he hands over the watch or not. All he wants is Kai to be gone since his mother hurt our family. Please you have to save Kai. If you don't then I will".

"I'm already guarding Kai as it is, but Kyung Mi it's not safe for you to come. Your father could get you killed. Think of this carefully". Chen's voice held emotions ones I hadn't heard from him. "You can't stop me Chen. I'm doing this because I care for Kai. And I found out the other day that my dad was the one who was hurting Kai the entire time. I'm going and there is no stopping me. You're either with me or against me". I hung up before Chen could answer.

I quietly snuck in my dads car sliding behind the seats hoping to not be found. Dad will leave me to Kai. I sunk even lower as dad hopped into the car.

Kai's POV

My nerves were getting the best of me as we drove towards our destination. My heart wouldn't stop racing. "Hey, everything is going to be fine. I have your back Kai. We're family remember". Chanyeol said patting me on the shoulder. "It's not that Chanyeol. I just worry of something going wrong. This could be our last meeting". I spoke nervous of everything. "If something goes wrong I'll get you out of there".

When we arrived at the abandoned building there was a car parked in the front which was none other than Mr. So's. "Don't worry I'm right behind you". Chanyeol said as we walked into the dim lit building. I nodded following Chanyeol. Every step felt like I was moving in slow motion, like I was frozen in time. This was the moment I had been waiting for a long time. One that has been overdue.

"Ah he finally shows up. I didn't think you would show up especially with your brother". Mr. So said as he stepped into the circle of light. "I'm his bodyguard actually". Chanyeol spoke. "Right like Kai needs guards. Now let's get to business first. Where is the watch?" Mr. So asked as he looked over at me.

"Firstly I wanted to let you know that my memories returned. I remember everything of that day and what you did". Anger dripped in my voice. Mr. So smirked stepping closer. "I only did what was right for my family and to avenge my wife. You family ruined everything for mine and now it's going to pay off once I get that list". "Your family isn't the only one who suffered. You took my parents away, my safety net. I won't hand over the list that doesn't belong to you. You and your wife wanted it so you could clear your names just so you wouldn't have to live in hiding. Today I won't let it go into the wrong hands. This ends here Mr. So once and for all". The more words that left my mouth I felt more confident.

Suddenly I felt a sharp pain on the right side of my face as he punched me. Chanyeol held onto Mr. So as he struggled against him. "I will get that list".

Mr. So broke free of Chanyeol's grasp lunging at me. I blocked his kick, kicking him back making him fall by Chanyeol. "You won't get away with this Kai. Get off me". Mr. So said as he got out of Chanyeol's grip again. "Kai look out!" I turned at the sound of the voice seeing Kyung Mi come barging in Chen right behind her.

Chanyeol kicked the knife that was in Mr. So's hand flinging it across the room. "You little punk you ruined my plan". Mr. So yelled facing Chanyeol. "I'm just protecting my brother". Chanyeol responded out of breath.

Suddenly the door burst open revealing Mr. and Mrs. Park along with a few guards. "Mr. So you're coming with us. You're being taken to the JYB Facility". (I just made one up)

I felt relief was over me as I watched Mr. and Mrs. Park take him away. My eyes met Kyung Mi's before I watched her walk out the door. My heart sunk as I watched her figure disappear. "Told you everything would turn out fine". Chanyeol reassured me. I nodded feeling at ease for the first time in years. "I wanted to thank you again for saving me and protecting me. I couldn't ask for a better brother and friends". "You're welcome it's what family does. Come on let's go home and celebrate". Chanyeol said as he wrapped his arm around me. I looked back at Chen noticing he was looking behind him. "You guys go ahead I have things I need to do. Congrats on the win Kai". Chen said as he ran towards the backdoor.

Maybe things were going to look up from now on. I only had one more mission to complete. Just better hope it will be successful.
