Kyung Mi's POV

As I looked around at the hospital's gift shop I wasn't sure what to get Kai. I know I was supposed to stay away from him, but I had to pay my respect as a thanks for saving my life. If it weren't for Kai, I'd probably be worse off. Kai, may be cold on the outside but deep inside he's nice. I seen glimpses of his caring side and know somewhere deep down there's a nice person under all that thick armor. Everyone has the potential to be good or bad. In Kai, I see a nice person who's been hurt a lot who has hardened over time putting up walls. In that moment I had decided that I wanted to break down those walls and get to know the real Kai, not the cold or ignorant person people knew. Somewhere deep inside laid a red heart beneath all that pain.

My eyes landed on a teddy bear dressed as a giraffe and knew that it was a perfect fit. I grabbed it and went to pay for it. "That will be $15.00 dollars". The lady said as she rung me up. I handed her the money watching as she put it in a gift bag. I thanked her and headed towards Kai's room.

To say the least I was nervous, only because I didn't know how bad off he was or the fact that I was to stay away from him. I didn't understand why I had to stay away from him or why I now had to be protected. Kai didn't seem like a bad person. Sure he has an attitude but that doesn't automatically make him a bad person. I seen a side of him that most people don't get to see. Under all that armor is a guy reaching out for help.

I looked at the walls trying to find Kai's room which he was staying in. All the halls looked the same as the walls remained in neutral colors. Rather depressing for hospital colors, why not get something with cheer to brighten their days. As I rounded the next corner I seen Chen sitting outside the door his eyes closed, his head against the wall. Upon hearing my feet his eyes met mine a smile coming to his lips.

"Kyung Mi didn't expect you here. Everything okay with you?" Chen asked more alert. I nodded. "Yeah, everything is fine. I um, actually came to check on Kai and give this to him". I said as I raised the bag for evidence. Chen looked at the bag then to the door. "He's had a rough night, but you're more than welcome to step inside. Kai, might enjoy your company. Someone new for a change and not nurses or us". Chen said with a slight smirk. "I won't be long". I said as I opened the door to his room.

When I stepped inside Kai had his eyes closed a bandage on his forehead. Being quiet I walked over to his nightstand and set down the bag, along with the letter. He looked peaceful, his face not filled with fear or anger. He looked angelic like. Just as I was about to leave, I felt a hand grip my wrist. Not firmly but not too loose. I looked down at his tanned hand on my wrist before I looked up at Kai just as our eyes met.

"Kyung Mi?" Kai asked his voice hoarse sounding. His voice sounded so small compared to how it was the other day. "Hey, Kai, I was just coming to check on you. How are you feeling?" I asked feeling my heart race at his touch. What is this feeling? I thought. Kai winced as he sat up. "Been better. You aren't hurt badly are you?" He asked concern laced in his voice. I looked at my wrist before looking up at Kai. "I'm doing okay. Only suffered minor injuries. I wanted to thank you Kai for saving my life. If it weren't for you I'd be worse off".

"You're welcome, I didn't want to see you get hurt". In Kai's voice I could read relief. "I bought you a get well present and a letter. You can read the letter after I leave".

Kai looked over at the bag before looking at me. "Thanks Kyung Mi, but you didn't have to do that". Kai thanked. I nodded. "You're welcome. It's the least I could do. I should be getting to school. Again I wanted to thank you for saving me". I thanked bowing 90 degrees. I heard Kai chuckle remembering the first time I bowed to him. "There's no need to bow. I know you're thankful already".

"I'll see you later Kai". I said as I walked away.
