Chapter Twenty Seven

Kai's POV

The pain in my stomach was unbearable, but I bit back the pain trying to be tough. "I'll go get the doctor to tell them he's awake". Baekhyun said as he talked to Lay. I weakly grabbed onto his wrist stopping him. "Don't go. I don't want to be pocked and prodded anymore. Besides they probably know that I just woke up. Please don't leave". I begged hoping my friends would listen. All I wanted was to visit for a bit, it felt like a long time since I seen them.

"I'll go call Chanyeol to let him know you're awake. Lay will stay here and protect you. It's nice to see you awake again". Baekhyun patted me on the arm before leaving the room. The room fell silent as the two of us stared at each other. "You scared us you know that. We searched hours for you. And when we did find you we weren't sure if you were alive. We weren't sure if you were going to come out of this coma". Lay said as he spoke his worry.

"I didn't mean to scare you. Mr. So sneaked attack me taking me off guard. I didn't mean for this to happen. Sometimes I wish he had killed me just to end all this suffering. Our families are enemies all because of this item that they are after, that I now have to protect. My parents died protecting it, because Mr. and Mrs. So were after it. It's why Mr. So is after me because I was a witness to his wife's murder, which I have no memory of. He's both after me and this item. And I have no clue where this item is. I'm scared Lay. I fear that I'll lose my friends who are my family or that I will never see daylight again. The more he fights me, the more scared I am that he is going to end my very existence". I panicked as now I feared everything of that man.

He's gone after me more now that I am older and he's become more violent with his plans. If I don't act quickly I could die in the hands of this man. Mr. So has taken everything from me that meant so much to me, but he's brought the broken boy out of me.

"We'll guard you no matter what Kai. Your family put you under Chanyeol's family protection which also means we as your friends are protecting you too. I know it's against your wishes that we signed up to be your personal body guards, but I promise you won't lose us. And we won't let anything happen to you. We promised Mr. and Mrs. Park that we would protect you from Mr. So while they search for more guards. And as your friend I will protect you to the best of my ability". I could tell Lay was confident in his answer which worried me that it would get him killed.

"Which do you value more Lay, our friendship or your life? I worry that this decision will get yourself killed. And I can't lose anyone else Lay. So I beg you to terminate your contract with Mr. and Mrs. Park. Because I can't see anyone else get hurt because of that man. Please Lay do this one thing for me". I begged hoping he would do the right thing.

I could tell Lay was thinking hard of his answer which only made me more nervous. "I'm sorry Kai but I won't terminate my contract. I value both our friendship and your safety. So therefore I will not end my contract".

"Do what you feel is right. But I honestly don't want to lose you as a friend".

I looked up just in time as the door opened revealing Chanyeol bursting into the room.
