Kyung Mi's POV

"I don't think you're a bad person. You're kind and you speak your mind". I watched as Kai took a step closer to me before leaning in making my body go in a chill. "If you know what's good for you stay away from me". I watched as he walked away.

What did he mean by that? I had my suspicion that Kai was the bad boy type, but was he really that unsafe? I mean he does have his nice moments. Kai didn't seem to be that scary. At least not to me. But what did Kai mean by stay away from him?

I scrambled to grab my stuff as the bell rang. Kai's words kept repeating in my mind as I found it difficult to concentrate in class. Hana nudged me getting my attention. "You're missing the whole class. Luckily I did some of your notes for you. What's gotten into you?" She poked my forehead before writing before the teacher could catch us.

"Sorry I'm just distracted today". I said as I kept think of Kai and what he said. "That much is obvious. Tell me later and we'll figure it out". Hana said as she glanced at me.

"Who's distracting the class? Step forward or you'll spend time in detention". Our teach said looking around the room. I stood up guilt written on my face. Hana tried getting me to sit down but I refused. "It was me Mr. Wong. It won't happen again". I said as I took my seat. At first he looked shocked but then his fave grew stern. "Rules apply to everyone. Don't distract the students. My class after school So Kyung Mi". He turned back around writing on the board.

. . .

It was after school which meant I had my first detention of my life. Mr. Wong was a strict teacher who people called him old school due to his teaching skills. Not a thing gets passed him. When I arrived in his classroom I noticed a student reading a book covering half his face. Not paying attention to who it was I sat two seats away from him and got out my homework.

I wasn't a nerd by any means, but I did like turning my work in early. And had I mentioned before that I like school? Ever since I was a kid I had always loved learning new things. It was my escape from what went on at home. Somehow I just got lost in homework and enjoyed it.

As I worked on my Korean History paper, I could feel eyes burning the back of my head. But decided to ignore it and continue. "Never would had thought that So Kyung Mi would be in detention". I knew that voice. It belonged to none other than the bad boy himself Kai. I turned my head to see that he was the boy I saw when I walked in. "So he does speak. Why her of people". I heard a girl ask. Kai looked her way and shook his head. "Why does it matter who I speak to? I wasn't talking to you". Kai said as he turned his attention on me.

"Was that necessary?" I asked leaning closer toward the seat behind me. Kai shrugged. "What did you do to earn yourself a first detention?" Kai asked changing the subject. Man this guy was confusing. Were all guys this way? One minute he's hot then he's cold. "I was talking in his class and wound up here. How about you Kai?" I asked kind of curious.

He leaned in closer a smirk coming to his lips. "I was sleeping in his class. His teaching methods are old to today's standards of teaching". For the first time I had to agree with Kai. But wasn't a Kai breaking his own rule when I wasn't supposed to be around him?

"Kind of agree with you there. His methods are old school". I said looking at Mr. Wong who was on his laptop. I glanced at Kai's book finding the title interesting. "What book are you reading?" I asked pointing towards the book.

Surprised Kai handed me the book letting me observe it. "Flowers of a Moment by Ko Un. Never pegged you as a poetry kind of guy". I said handing it back to him. He bit his bottom before looking at me. "There's a lot of things you don't know about me". Kai said his voice lower.

I nodded sensing his coldness has returned.

"Alright you all may leave". Mr. Wong said as he dismissed us. I grabbed my things and stuffed them in my bag. I texted my father saying that I was going to be later than usual. As I looked behind me Kai was nowhere to be seen. How can he just disappear like that?

As I crossed the parking lot I heard the sound of screeching tires. I looked to my left seeing a car speeding my way. I froze in fear as I seen the headlights come hurdling my way. Suddenly I was harshly pushed aside landing on the pavement. All I could hear was the sound of breaking glass and something hitting the cement.

In shock I watched as the car drove off. When I came out of my stupor I seen a figure lying in front of me.

"Kai!" I shouted running to his side.
