Chapter 19~ Dave Franco got nothing on you
"Danny, guess what!" I bounced into the kitchen after work and saw him standing there, looking at some papers, his face distraught. "Hey, what's wrong?" My voice softened
"Huh? Oh, nothing," he put the paper into the drawer, a fake smile taking his place. I have put on enough fake smiles to know the difference.
"Danny, I know when something is bothering you, you can tell me," I said and his smile disappeared.
"Since when do you know me so well," he snaps
Ouch, that hurt.
But I brushed it off; whatever was on the paper was hurting him, a lot.
"I know the difference between a fake smile and a real one. I know when somebody is hurting, and I definitely know when the boy I love is hurt but doesn't want to tell anyone," I say, walking closer to him and cupping his cheek with my hand, studying him carefully. His forest green eyes were swirling with emotion, mostly disappointment and hurt and just a flash of love.
"I know; I'm sorry for snapping at you. I didn't mean it, you know a lot more about me than most people," he apologizes guiltily
"Okay, whenever you're ready to talk, I'll be here," I pull him into a hug. He holds me tightly, as if I was going to run or disappear any minute and digs his head in my neck. This was pretty awkward considering that he was like 6 ft. tall and I was like 5'6, but he needed it and I was going to be there. Something wet hit my shoulder and I heard him sniffle. Pulling away I saw tears in his eyes, one that had escaped and dripped down. I wiped them away with my thumb and he caught my wrist held it to his chest. The look on his face was heartbreaking and I wasn't sure what was so bad to make him cry.
"I-I love you, Faye," he said quietly and brokenly.
"I love you Danny, but what's going on? You're scaring me... Did something happen? Are you...sick? Please, what..." I trailed off as fear entered my mind and made my heart break at the thought of them.
"N-No! I'm not dying or anything, I-I It's just... Don't worry about it, it's nothing life threatening," he reassures me and I sigh in relief.
"Thank god, okay... Whatever's bothering you, tell me when you're ready, okay?" I say and he nods. I hug him again and he holds me just as tightly.
"Okay, I will, I promise. What did you want to tell me?" He changed the subject
"Christy is pregnant! And they are so excited, it's amazing. She's already in her 2nd trimester and she's glowing! Lucky girl!" I said and Danny's face fell, than brightened up
"That's great, I'm happy for them, do they know if it's going to be a boy or girl?" He says, I can see the hurt in his voice, no matter how well guarded it is.
"No, but I think they will find out," I explain. "Is it just the two of us tonight?" I ask, looking around the empty house.
"Yeah, Mum and Dad left yesterday, Alex went back to college, and Anna and Amelia are at a friend's house tonight, how about Mikey?" He asks
"Oh, the twins' mom is going to drop him off in an hour. Let's get started on dinner?" I say and he nods. After making a quick dinner of Spaghetti and meatballs, we collapsed on the couch.
"Want to watch a movie?" He asked and I nodded
"Okay... how about Now You See Me?" He holds up the DVD and I nod. I love this movie, and that part at the end, major Plot Twist!
"I love this movie," I comment, curling into Danny's side
"You only like it because you think Dave Franco is hot," He accuses teasingly
