UNEDITED (sorry it's shorter than usual)

After the incident, you hadn't seen Billy anywhere. It's been at least three days since you last saw him. Christmas is over now. You had never had a real Christmas before, and you were thankful for Hopper for providing presents. Joyce had gotten you and El something as well.

Anyway, when you were scoping out Billy's house, he would never be there. When his parents were there, so was he. When they were gone, he was too. There's no doubt that he saw you and Steve.

You're sitting in the library, tapping your fingers on the wooden tables and anxiously bouncing your leg. Billy wasn't in second period which worries you. He normally never misses school.

You lay your head down, mentally cursing yourself for what you've done. That's when the library door opens, your head shooting up. A smile is on your lips as you see who it is.

"Billy!" You swiftly make your way to him.

He doesn't look happy to see you at all. His face is full of anger as he looks upon your face. "What?" He rudely asks.

"I know you saw, but let me—"

"Let you what? Explain? (Y/n), you and Steve kissed. We're done." His words are like venom to you.

Your heart shatters into a million pieces. "Billy—"

"That's all I came to tell you. Bye, (y/n). Have a nice life with Harrington." He uses his last sentence to take a jab at you.

Your feet won't let you go after him. They just stay locked in place. Your knees buckle underneath of you as tears sting your eyes. He actually ended it with you. Your breath gets caught in your throat as your lungs attempt to get air. Everything seems to go in slow motion.

Finally, your feet move, carrying you out of the library, and out of the school. Your eyes lock on to Billy's car as he speeds off. No, this can't be happening! You can't stay here.

It takes you a while to get home, but you do eventually. You're standing in the doorway, staring forward as El comes out of her bedroom.

"Zee?" She calls to you as she moves closer. "What's wrong?"

Your jaw trembles as tears well up in your eyes. "Billy broke up with me." You admit, the tears flowing down your cheeks.

She wastes no time pulling you into a hug to comfort you. "It will all be okay, Zee." She tries to assure you.

You shake your head. "No, it won't." You take a step back. "El, I...I lo—" You cut yourself off. "Tell Hop I'm staying at Steve's for a while." You order as you hurry out of the cabin.

"Zee, wait!" She calls out, but you use your powers to keep her in the cabin as you scurry away.

You're not going to Steve's. You told him what happened the morning after he kissed you. He apologized so many times and told you he doesn't remember anything. You knew it was only the alcohol, not him.

You're going to the treehouse. That's the only place you can be alone and cry to your heart's continent. It takes a while to get there, though. You don't bother plugging in anything either. The only thing you do is climb up the ladder and close the latch.

You cry for a long time, trying to make yourself feel better, but it only results in you almost puking. What you're feeling isn't something you've ever had the chance to experience before. This must be heartbreak. This is worse than anything Papa could have ever done to you.

You stay up in the treehouse for hours, only to be left alone with your thoughts. Maybe what you need right now is a friend, but that would mean leaving. You can't. You're always the one that people run to. If you run back, you'll be weak.
