"What would you wish for if there's a shooting star right now?"
"I wish you'd forget me."
"My name is Silverianne A. Villafranca and I plan to take up nursing in this University," I said as I sat right in front of the dean, offering up my folder filled with credentials from my old high school.
"Straight to the point, I see." The old man chuckled and accepted my folder. He began reading it and I noticed the look of curiosity in his eyes.
"Ms. Villafranca, it says here that your middle name is Abrantes. By any chance, are you related to Silverio at Anna Abrantes?" he asked.
I nodded. "They're my Grandparents. How do you know them?"
He beamed. "Your Grandparents and I went to school together. Your Grandfather and I were even in the same marching band at this University. Ah, the good old days."
My eyes felt hot all of a sudden. I took a deep breath trying to stop myself from tearing up. It had been years since they passed but it still hurts like hell.
The smile on his face then disappeared. "Until the end, your Grandfather didn't leave your Grandmother alone. I attended both of their funerals and we met at your Grandfather's. Naalala mo ba 'yon?"
I shook my head. "It had been 6 years."
"Sabagay." He sighed and smiled. "Dito na ba kayo nakatira ngayon?"
I shook my head again. "I'm on my own."
"Correct me if I'm wrong but 'di ba, ikaw 'yung may kakambal?" he asked, his tone was quite unsure.
I nodded. "Twin brother."
"Ah! I see." He chuckled once again. "So he's the one pursuing business? After all, you have a pretty successful car dealership company. At 'di ba ay may supermarket din kayo doon?"
"He ran away to be in a band," sabi ko na lang.
"Ha? Paano 'yun? If you're going to be a nurse and your brother is a musician, sino na ang magpapatuloy sa business n'yo? " he asked.
Hindi na ako kumibo. I'm so sick of people asking me that question. Ever since my brother decided to run away and pursue music, that issue has always plagued my existence. Hindi ko na mabilang kung ilang beses namin itong pinag-awayan ng mga magulang ko.
