"I hate you, Filimon!" sigaw ko habang hinahabol ang hininga, tagaktak ang pawis.

My lungs are burning and I can feel my knees trembling. I collapsed to the grassy ground and stared at the morning sky mindlessly. I shouldn't have accepted Jethro's invitation to join him in his morning run at the park.

I thought running with him would be fun, I didn't expect it to be mortifying!

My view of the sky was immediately blocked by his smiling face as he looked down on me, hands on both of his knees. "Pagod ka na?"

Jethro's smile always had a way to brighten up my day, but I guess today's an exception. "Puchangama ka, mamamatay na ako rito."

He laughed and sat right next to me, lifting my head and placing it gently over his lap. He kept on laughing while fanning his hand above my face and gently dabbing my forehead with his face towel.

"We really have to work on your cardio, Stoney," he commented with a tone of amusement.

"Pwede bang patalinuhan na lang?" I joked as my heart continued to palpitate like hell.

He chuckled. "Against me?"

"Yabang mo talagang bato ka!" I reached for his face and pinched his nose, making him yelp and laugh even louder.

"Mom wants us to have dinner with them at the house," basa ni Jethro sa mensaheng dumating sa cellphone niya nang makabalik kami sa loob ng sasakyan.

"Oh...

Jethro's lips stretched to a strained smile. "It's my brother's birthday..."

All this time, mukhang marami pa pala akong hindi alam tungkol sa kanya.
