"Sumisikip! Hoy sandali! Elemento okay lang ba 'to?!" Reika panicked as I tried to check her blood pressure. I kept assuring her that it's okay but I could see the look of worry in her eyes. Kawawang demonya.
She then sighed in relief, probably feeling the cuff loosen its hold.
"Your blood pressure is normal but we both know nothing about you is really normal," I said as I took off my stethoscope and jotted down her results.
"What else is new?" She jokingly shrugged as she caressed her arm.
"You sure okay lang na mag-practice ako kahit isang mata lang ang gamit?" I asked for the nth time.
"Kahit nakapikit ka pa!" taas-noo niyang giit. "Pero siyempre hindi mo 'yon gagawin diba?" pabulong niyang dagdag kaya napailing-iling na lamang ako.
"Are you ready?" I asked as I picked up my brand new syringe. Isa sa limampung binili ko. Mabuti nang handa.
"I was born ready." She grinned pero biglang napa sign of the cross.
"Oh come on." I rolled my eyes.
"What?" She asked defensively.
Bumuntong-hininga na lamang ako hinila ang braso niya.
"Sino ang matapang?" I asked.
"Reika De Juan!" she yelled.
