His lips twitched. "I'm not laughing, Stoney."

"Then wipe that grin off your face." I slapped him by his stomach.

He chuckled, placing his arm around my waist. "Pikon."

"For the record, napilitan lang ako," I clarified.

"Halata nga." He sighed.

To our parents, these are prized moments, but to Slade I and I, these are remnants of our childhood woes.

He started walking towards our grand piano, placed right next to our wide staircase.  He was still holding me by the waist, so I followed his lead.

"Our parents wanted us to play the piano at a young age. Most kids would play outside during weekends while Slade and I are forced to stay indoors for our Piano lessons." I explained while he was eyeing the Piano.

"At sa tuwing may bisita, pinapatugtog kayo," Jethro supplied. He sounded so sure that it felt like he experienced it, too.

I'd like to think our parents only did that because they were proud of Slade and I, however, there is a fine line between showcasing your kids' talents because you are genuinely proud of them, and using them only to serve as trophies for others to envy.

For Slade and I, the truth remains, we are our Parents' Trophy Children. I sure hope Jethro's case is different. I hope he had a better childhood than Slade and me.

"Your parents made you learn an instrument, too?" I looked up at him.

He nodded, pushing the bridge of his glasses further his face before looking down to meet my eyes. "Cello."

I grinned at the thought of Jethro playing the cello so passionately and delicately. Now that is a sight to see!

"What's with the smile?" He squinted his eyes, giving a suspicious yet adorable glare.

"Nothing." I smiled sheepishly.

Umakyat kami sa mahabang hagdan ng bahay. It's his first time to enter our house so I'm giving him a house tour, our last stop being my room.

"Didn't know you're into paintings."
