INTRODUCTION
"Teenage Antichrist" originated as "Lacerations", a film and television high school class assignment back in 1992. I did consider turning the project into a full screenplay but I couldn't get it to work. Decades later the lead actor from the original high school project, Dan Edie, sent me a private message with the question 'Do you remember this?'. He was referring to the original "Lacerations" video that he attached to it. Given that over two decades had passed it wasn't easy to watch but I did think of an alternative ending and wrote that for fun. When that was done I realised I finally could get the story to work so I spent over a year planning a series of four books.
However, there are a few things that need to be pointed out. Although most of it takes place in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia there is no such suburb at Hinton and there are no cinemas in the suburbs of Chandler and Wellington Point. This dramatic licence was taken to avoid litigation with any schools and popular movie chains.
With regards, to the homophobic characters contained in this book I just want to assure you that I have no problem with the LGBT community at all but as this is a period book set in the early 1990s I can promise you that some of the students I went to high school with were far from politically correct. The cover art used for this book is an image from the "Lacerations" high school project from 1992.
PROLOGUE
For centuries teenagers have been perceived to be a problem for society. For some teenagers, the perception has been accurate but for other teenagers, the perception has been inaccurate. These perceptions occasionally led to chaos, and a group of beings with mystical powers that call themselves Spectres loved that, and it led to them recruiting specific teenagers who met their requirements to join their cult. Hiding behind their false religion, "Lovers of Light", has made it easy for them to explore schools to see if there are any teenagers that can suit their cause but occasionally they found other recruits through unconventional means and the journey for a teenager to become one of them always takes a long time to be effective and conclusive that a teenager is worthy of causing chaos for their needs of evil.
CHAPTER ONE
A WARNING OF EVIL
1991
If there was one thing that Daniel Dean hated, it was asking his parents for a favour when he knew they were going to say no. So there he was at the bottom of the stairs, dreading the walk-up. Usually, a walk up the stairs would take less than ten seconds, but when he dreaded something, the walk felt like it took hours. He took one last breath to booster his confidence and then he walked up the stairs.
Once he reached the top of the stairs he had one last hurdle to face. The fact that his parents' bedroom was at the end of the hall. Daniel walked as fast as he could but to him, it felt like it took half an hour. Truth be told the walk took thirty seconds thanks to his nerves. Once he reached the bedroom door he tried to knock with confidence but ended up tapping on it with fear.
"Come in," he heard Mr. Dean say.
Daniel was surprised that he heard that. He opened the door and walked in slowly. His parents were in bed reading books. He couldn't see what books because both of his parents had them flat on the blankets.
"What are you doing up so late?" Mrs Dean asked, annoyed. "You have school in the morning."
"I know it's late, but I need to ask you both a favour," Daniel replied.
Mr. Dean rolled his eyes with annoyance.
"What favour?" Mr. Dean asked knowing already whatever his seventeen-year-old son had in mind wasn't going to be good.
