On Saturday morning Mr. Slater talked to John about his late arrival home at great length which he found to be both tediously long and draining. After their talk, he thought about the events of the night before and he didn't just think about the abuse Natalie suffered at the hands of her parents. Although he felt sorry for her he wasn't blinded by it. Prior to their arrival at Natalie's house, her behaviour had been insane and he needed answers. So John walked to Michelle's bedroom and knocked on her door.

"Who is it?" Michelle asked.

"It's John," John said.

"Go away,"

"Michelle, I really need to talk to you about Natalie. It's really important."

She didn't say anything. He wondered if he would need to pound on her door but a moment later she opened it.

"In case you haven't noticed Natalie hasn't been talking to me lately," she said annoyed. "So if you want to talk about her then talk to Natalie,"

"I may not be talking to her soon," he said.

That really caught her off guard as that was the last thing she expected him to say.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Natalie did something crazy last night and it has to do with her nephews," he said. "So can I please come in?"

Michelle let him into her bedroom and he closed the door behind him. He then told her the events of Friday night but only until he got control of his car back. She couldn't believe what he had told her.

"No," Michelle said. "No way,"

"No, Michelle," John said. "That's what happened. Natalie really went off the deep end,"

"Natalie wouldn't do anything like that,"

"We drove through Nambour last night. So don't tell me Natalie wouldn't do anything like that. She's desperate to see her nephews,"

Hearing him say that really made the truth hit home for her as she remembered the trouble she got in when they were in Bundaberg because of Natalie.

"I know she's desperate to see them," she said. "Before we stopped talking she would talk about them a lot,"

John was relieved he was making some headway with Michelle because he wasn't sure it was going to.

"Okay then," he said. "So before you two stopped talking did she ever show any other signs that she was crazy?"

"I don't think she's crazy," she said. "I just think she really wants to see her nephews,"

"No kidding she wants to see her nephews,"

They didn't say anything for a moment until she thought of something.

"So what happened when you took her home?" she asked.

That wasn't something that he wanted to talk about as he didn't feel comfortable talking about it with Michelle. He thought it would be a better idea to discuss it with their parents.

"They were really angry," he said.

Michelle suspected that John wasn't telling her something and didn't want him to know that she knew something. But she couldn't hide the look of fear in her eyes.

"Oh, I see," she said. "That sucks,"

John couldn't help but notice the look of fear in her eyes.

"Michelle, what's going on?" he asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you know something?"
