John dreaded going back to school and not because he had to miss out on his favourite lesson but because of what his reputation was going to be like. These suspicions proved to be correct as he entered the school again for this third lesson of the day which was English.

"Hey John," a male student said obnoxiously. "We heard your sister puked her guts out before assembly. What did she do? Spend a night on the piss?"

All the other students in the classroom laughed and he hated them for it. It wasn't his fault that Michelle was sick and for his own selfish reasons he hated it that Michelle was sick.

When the first lunch break arrived John had to deal with people making vomiting noises as he walked past them. He dreaded walking behind the canteen where his friends were. Before he got there he was relieved to see Natalie walking up to him.

"John, how is Michelle doing?" Natalie asked with genuine concern.

"She was puking the last time I saw her," John said.

"God!" she said in sympathy for her best friend.

He didn't want to think about that as all he wanted to think about was himself.

"So, is it worth hanging out with our friends today?" he asked.

"I don't think so," she said. "Michelle puking is the hot topic around the school,"

"Goddamn it!"

John was in his last year of high school and he hated that he was the big brother of the school joke.

Things didn't get better for John that day. After school, he met with Natalie at his car and he imagined driving her home and maybe having sex with her. That fantasy went out the window the second he unlocked her door and opened it. The stench of vomit was overwhelming and couldn't be ignored. He thought he had gotten rid of all of the vomit but he hadn't been able to get rid of the smell.

"Oh, my God!" Natalie said with disgust.

"I know," John said. "I did my best to clean it but it's not that far to your house,"

She couldn't believe what he just said and did her best to be polite about it.

"John, I'm going to walk home," she said.

He couldn't believe she was being so unreasonable.

"But I did my best to clean it and we can drive with the windows down," he said.

"No John," she said. "I'm walking home,"

And without another word Natalie looked both ways for cars and then crossed the street onto the walking path. John couldn't believe he was stuck having to drive in a really smelly car and there was nothing he could do about it.

When John got home he couldn't get out of his car fast enough. The first thing he did was walk into Michelle's bedroom to find Michelle asleep. He couldn't have cared less that she was asleep as he seriously wanted to confront her.

"Wake up," John said.

She woke up immediately startled.

"God John!" Michelle said. "You scared the shit out of me!"

"I don't care because I've been made a laughing stock at school thanks to you!" John replied furiously.

After a horrific morning of vomiting, the last thing she needed to hear was John feeling sorry for himself.
