When it came to the memories that were being shared it took another direction. Now Michelle and the Stranger were exploring John's mind to see what memories he had and how they could be of use to them. They discovered this when they found the memories he had when he became suspicious of Ms. Mathis. John drove to Ms. Mathis' house as fast as he could. When he got to her house it didn't look like anyone was home. So he got out of his car, walked to the front door and knocked on it. A moment later Ms. Mathis opened the front door. She frowned a little and he wondered if she did that because she recognised him.

"Yes, can I help you?" Ms. Mathis asked.

"Yeah, are you a singing teacher?" John asked back in reply.

"Yes, I am,"

"Have you ever had a student named Michelle Slater?" John asked.

"Michelle Slater? No, I'm afraid that name isn't familiar,"

John had a suspicion that Ms. Mathis was lying and was frustrated that he couldn't prove it right then and there.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes," she said.

"Well, I'm very sure Michelle was a student of yours as she's my sister but she's disappeared. Now, do you know anything about it?"

Ms. Mathis didn't say anything for a moment as she was shocked at the way she was being spoken to. He could tell that she had something on her mind and wanted to know more.

"I'm sorry your sister has disappeared but I'm afraid I didn't know her," she said. "Now you'll have to excuse me because I have a student arriving soon. Do you understand that?"

John really wanted to know more but it was obvious to him that Ms. Mathis was scared of something. As much as he wanted information he decided to play it cool for now and come back another time.

"Okay, I'll go," he said disappointed. "And good luck with your Broadway musical,"

"Thank you," she said quickly. "Now please go,"

"Okay, I'm going,"

John walked to his car frustrated that he had been faced with another dead end. As he drove home he felt there was something about her that didn't add up.

As John ate dinner with his parents at the kitchen table he kept thinking about Ms. Mathis. As he thought about her he knew there was something wrong. Then he realised the answer and felt shocked and alive simultaneously.

"Oh, my God!" he said.

Mrs. Slater and Mr. Slater looked at John startled.

"John, what is it?" Mr. Slater asked.

He didn't bother to answer Mr. Slater as he pushed his chair out and stood up.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" Mr. Slater asked offended by John's actions.

John knew exactly what he was doing as he walked out of the kitchen, into his car and drove away.

It was seven o'clock by the time he arrived at Ms. Mathis' house. The lights were on in the lounge room so it was obvious to him that she was home. He got out of his car, walked to the front door and started pounding on it.

"Ms. Mathis, open up!" John said loudly. "I know you're home and I know you lied to me about Michelle!"

At first, there was silence but he heard footsteps coming towards the front door a moment later. The door opened partially as it was blocked by a security chain.

"If you don't get out of here I'm calling the police," Ms. Mathis said.

"How did I know about your Broadway musical?" John asked.
