During every second lunch break of the day, Natalie always had lunch with Martin without fail. However that day she wanted to do something different and she wasn't sure how Martin was going to take it.
"Martin, I've got a big assignment due soon and I'd really need to work on it," she said. "Do you mind if I don't have lunch with you today?"
"Yeah, go for your life," Martin replied indifferently. "I'm going to play basketball with the guys,"
"Thanks. I'll see you after school,"
"No worries,"
Natalie was relieved that Martin didn't make a big deal out of it. So she walked to the library feeling very nervous. What John had told her the day before had been very upsetting and intense for her because she didn't like him knowing so much. So before she entered the library she took a deep breath.
"Natalie, what the hell are you doing?" she asked herself quietly.
Natalie didn't have an answer to her question so she entered the library anyway. She found John at a table in the quiet study area where they agreed to meet. He looked incredibly tense but was relieved when she walked up to him and sat opposite.
"Thank you for coming," John said. "I'm really glad you believe me,"
"What you've told me is really intense," Natalie said. "I can't help but believe you,"
"Good,"
"So how come you're the only one that remembers that Michelle is still alive?"
John hesitated before answering that question because he knew the answer and didn't want to take responsibility.
"I think I'm the only one that remembers Michelle because I'm the one that wanted her out of my life," he said with his voice shaking a little. "So I think it's my punishment for it,"
"Jesus!" she said sympathetically.
"But I can't be the only one that remembers her being alive recently. There has to be someone else,"
"Well, is there anyone else you haven't asked?"
John thought about that question long and hard for the rest of the school day. Then he thought of someone and he couldn't believe he had been so stupid.

When John had thought of Ms. Mathis it had been during the last class of the day. When the bell rang he stood up quickly and ran to his car. On the way to his car, he nearly ran into Natalie.
"Jesus John," Natalie said. "You nearly knocked me over,"
"I didn't mean to but I've thought of someone else that knew Michelle," John replied excitedly.
Natalie was pleased to see him looking so excited.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"Michelle had a music teacher and her name is Ms. Mathis," John said. "So I'm going to her house right now,"
"Good luck,"
"Thanks,"
John ran to his car feeling excited that he was positive that he going to get somewhere with Ms. Mathis.
*****
John drove to Ms. Mathis' house as fast as he could. When he got to her house it didn't look like anyone was home. So he got out of his car, walked to the front door and knocked on it. A moment later Ms. Mathis opened the front door. She frowned a little and he wondered if she did that because she recognised him.
