As Michelle hated hanging out with John and his friends she had to find a new refuge she could go since going to the oval would be dangerous since the attack. So she chose the school library as the librarian Mr. Cornerman would be there. She sat with Natalie in a private study area.
"That really sucks about Daniel's host parents wanting to go with you on dates," Natalie said.
"Yeah, no shit," Michelle said. "So what can we do about it?"
Natalie thought about that for a moment and then came up with an idea.
"How about the drive-in?" Natalie suggested. "A double date?"
"The drive-in?" Michelle asked doubtfully. "They'll still want to come with us,"
"Not if we take one car they won't. There won't be enough room with you, me, John, Daniel, and the host parents,"
Michelle thought about that for a moment.
"That might put them off," she said liking the idea.
"So shall we give it a shot?" Natalie asked.
"Hell yeah!"
In spite of how bad things were, Michelle was grateful that there was a good chance of having one last date with Daniel.

Natalie didn't run the drive-in double date idea with John until after school. She suspected that he wasn't going to like the idea and her suspicions proved to be correct. Michelle decided to stay quiet in the backseat as she knew Natalie could handle him.
"No way!" John said immediately.
"Why not?" Natalie asked.
"Because I just like it when it's just you and me,"
"I like it that way too and Daniel doesn't have a lot of time left here,"
"God, it'll be great when he goes,"
"John, stick with the issue. Are you going to agree to this or not?"
"I don't see why I should,"
"Jesus Christ! How many times do I have to pull the no sex game with you?
It was a game John was very familiar with and it was a game he was getting sick of.
"Fine, we'll go to the bloody drive-in on a double date," John said.
"My hero," Natalie replied.
"Heroes don't get blackmailed,"
"But in your case, it's for the best possible cause,"
John said nothing as he just wanted to fume over the situation he was trapped in. Natalie sat there proud over the amount of control she had over him. Michelle was happy that she got him to say yes but still decided not to say anything as she knew he wasn't going to be happy once they got home. Natalie turned around, winked at Michelle and she smiled at Natalie.

Once they got home Michelle assumed John would start to give her a hard time but he didn't. He simply walked into his bedroom and closed the door behind him. She was grateful for this so she walked to the phone in the kitchen and dialled Daniel's number. The phone was answered after two rings.
"Hello," Daniel said.
"Daniel, thank God you're there because I have a great idea for a date," Michelle said.
"Really? What's the idea?"
"A double date at the drive-in,"
Daniel couldn't see how that could be a great date at all.
