In spite of what happened earlier that day, John still had trouble sleeping as he still had Michelle on his mind. As he tried to sleep the street lights outside turned off and his bedroom became much darker. Then he couldn't move and that's what the Stranger's eyes came into view. Just his eyes. Then his eyes pierced through the darkness and John found that really unsettling.
"You are seriously trying my patience!" the Stranger said tersely. "You know that?"
John was absolutely terrified and he did his best not to show it.
"I don't care if I am," John said. "You took my sister!"
The Stranger leaned in close to him but all he could still were his eyes.
"Meet me at Fellmonger Park at Ormiston after school tomorrow," the Stranger said.
John was shown an image of exactly where to meet him. Then the Stranger's eyes lingered in front of John for a moment more and then disappeared. Once the Stranger was gone he still couldn't move.

The next morning John was still scared but he knew he had made progress. Why else would the Stranger had come to see him if he hadn't? As John entered the kitchen he noticed only Mrs. Slater was there. It was an unusual sight for him as he couldn't remember a school day when he didn't have breakfast with both of his parents.
"Where's Dad?" John asked.
"Your father had to go to work early," Mrs. Slater said.
"Oh," he said trying to sound concerned.
It was obvious to him that Mr. Slater was avoiding him and Mrs. Slater knew that was true she didn't want to talk about it.
"You'd better hurry up and make your breakfast," she said. "You don't want to be late for school,"
When it came to what was at stake he couldn't have cared less about school as he just wanted to meet with the Stranger and get Michelle back.

When John arrived at school he couldn't keep the Stranger's visit out of his mind. It was absolutely terrifying and he really started to wonder what else the Stranger was really capable of. He walked into the library study area to be alone and think but that didn't pan out for him. Natalie had followed him in there and under any other circumstances he would have been pleased to see her but he just wanted to be alone.
"Hi John," Natalie said.
"Hi," John said tensely.
She could see the fear in his eyes and started to worry about him instantly.
"John, are you okay?" she asked.
"No, I'm not okay," he said. "Could you leave me alone?"
"Leave you alone?" she asked surprised.
"Yes, leave me alone I don't want to talk to anyone right now,"
"Why not?"
"I just don't! Can't you just leave me alone?"
Natalie was hurt to hear John ask that question.
"Yeah, I can leave you alone," she said bitterly. "You can spend the rest of the day alone for all I care!"
As she walked away he felt awful but he didn't want to put her in danger.

The rest of the day was torture for John. All he wanted was the school day to be over. As he sat in English before the first lunch break he was distracted and Mrs. Robyn could see it.
