When Michelle eventually stopped screaming she didn't say a word. John led her back to his car. It was more than obvious to him that she was angry and as they drove back to their house he had a plan for their safety. When they arrived he was relieved that their parents weren't home yet. So, Michelle, John, and Natalie walked into the kitchen.
"Michelle, I want you to give me the knife," John said.
Michelle looked at him in angry surprise.
"Why do you want me to give you the knife?" she asked. "You know it'll kill the Stranger and I want to kill him,"
"I don't think you should be the one to kill him," John replied.
To Michelle that was the most offensive thing, he could have said.
"Excuse me, but who do you think you are to say that after what he put through?" she asked.
"It's my fault that he put you through it," John said. "I'm the one that wanted you out of my life and that makes it my fault,"
"Did you also want him to torture me?"
Natalie was horrified to hear that and couldn't believe she had been so naive.
"He tortured you?" she asked.
"He held me captive for a week," Michelle said. "Of course he tortured me and there was nothing I could do to stop him,"
"Even so I want to be the one to kill him," John said.
Michelle looked at John directly and took a step closer to him.
"You don't know what he's really like," she said. "You don't know what he can do,"
Although John was nervous the look of anger in his eyes was still present.
"I have to be the one that kills him," he said slowly. "What happened to you was my fault and I have to take responsibility for it. Can't you understand that?"
Although Michelle didn't say anything it was obvious to both John and Natalie that she was thinking about it.
"Fine, you can kill him if you want to," Michelle said. "But try not to think like you,"
"What do you meant try not to think like me?" John asked.
"He has powers that no one can predict. So you have to out-think him,"
"Don't worry, Michelle. I can out-think him,"
"That's really great but what about me?" Natalie asked. "What do you want me to do?"
John took out his car keys and handed them to Natalie.
"I want you to take my car and drive Michelle far away from here," he said.
"What?" Michelle asked offended.
"Where do you want to go?" Natalie asked.
"You should drive to Bundaberg to see your brother," he replied.
Natalie took the keys off him and he was relieved to see that happen. While Natalie's face lit up with happiness Michelle's face was fuelled with rage.
"NO, I'M NOT GOING TO RUN!" Michelle yelled. "NOT AFTER WHAT THAT BASTARD DID TO ME AND I WANT TO SEE THAT BASTARD DIE!"
"But what if something goes wrong and I can't protect you?" John asked. "At least with Natalie you'll be safe,"
"Natalie won't be able to keep me safe no matter where we go," Michelle replied. "So get it through your head right now that I'm staying,"
John really wanted Michelle to go but it was obvious that she wasn't going to go anywhere. So he looked at Natalie.
