For the rest of the week, Michelle tried to put what happened with Natalie behind her as she was in Bundaberg and away from school. So Michelle was happiest doing when she really loved: surfing. She caught wave after wave during high tide at Kelly's Beach and what made this really appealing for her was she was better at it than John. He could catch waves but he could never stay on his surfboard all the way to the shore. She could every time.

After the waves had died down she was about to head back in when a boy with blond hair, blue eyes, and aged seventeen walked up to her and she thought he had a friendly smile.

"Hey, how are you doing?" the boy asked.

"I'm good," Michelle said feeling relaxed that this boy was talking to her without knowing her reputation.

"Cool, and I watched you catch some of those waves. You're amazing,"

Michelle couldn't help but smile at that because she took a lot of pride in her surfing.

"Thank you," she said.

"Listen, there's going to be a surfing contest here tomorrow," the boy said. "Are you gonna enter?"

Before she could answer John walked towards them and Michelle was embarrassed.

"No, she can't enter," John said. "We're heading back to Brisbane later today,"

The boy didn't appreciate that John didn't let Michelle answer for herself and thought he was a wanker because of it.

"Who are you?" the boy asked.

"This is my brother," she said annoyed. "And like he said we're heading back to Brisbane. Otherwise, I would have loved to have entered,"

"I don't think our parents would have let you enter," John said.

"Oh, fuck you!"

The boy walked away as Michelle and John started to argue.

The argument didn't end on Kelly's Beach. It continued on while they were packing up the cars. Mrs. Slater and Mr. Slater were also packing up the cars and did their best to ignore their arguing kids as they were too busy to stop it.

"I can't believe you embarrassed me in front of that boy on the beach!" Michelle said.

"He looked like a creep," John said.

"Oh, bullshit, he was flirting with you,"

"So what if he was? It's not my fault I can get someone to flirt with me and you can't,"

"Oh, for crying out loud!" Mrs. Slater said. "Can't the pair of you go one day without arguing?"

Michelle and John answered that question by continuing to argue.

It was the day Daniel had been waiting for as he stood at gate six at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport with his Uncle Craig and his Aunt Kelly. Daniel was finally heading to Australia for the student exchange program. It was a beautiful day outside and that's just what he wanted: A good flight to Los Angeles, then a flight to Sydney, Australia and then to Brisbane.

"Now are you sure you've packed everything?" Kelly asked.

"Yes, Aunt Kelly," Daniel said. "I have everything I need."

"Now make sure you have a good time down there," Craig said.

"Don't worry, Uncle Craig," he said. "I'm sure I will,"
