Michelle woke up the next morning feeling exhausted and afraid. She peered through the curtains and saw there was no one there. That only gave her a little relief but not enough to feel any better about what had happened the night before. So she got out of bed, walked to her door, unlocked it, opened it and walked into John's bedroom. he was still asleep as she walked up to him.

"John," Michelle said.

He didn't say a word as he was still asleep.

"John," she said louder.

That was enough to wake him up and he looked at her annoyed.

"What?" John asked annoyed.

"I want to talk about what happened last night," she said.

He looked at her with annoyed confusion as he couldn't remember anything memorable from the night before.

"What about last night?" he asked annoyed.

Considering what had happened the night before she thought John would have been all over it. Instead, she found her brother acting like there was nothing wrong.

"What about last night?" Michelle asked with frustrated confusion. "We had that creepy guy looking at us from across the street,"

John leaned up in his bed and wondered if his sister was crazy.

"What creepy guy?" he asked.

"The one near the telephone booth," Michelle said. "You walked over to confront him but then his disappeared,"

Then it all made sense to John and he became more annoyed than ever.

"Oh, for Christ's sake!" he said. "You had a bad dream. Get over it,"

Michelle was annoyed that he was dismissing it that way and couldn't believe John couldn't remember what had happened.

"No, it wasn't a bad dream," she said. "It really happened,"

"Yeah, and last night I had a date with that 'Joyous' star, what's her name," he replied.

"John-" Michelle said annoyed.

"Michelle, neither of those things happened because they were dreams," he interrupted. "Now leave me alone."

Michelle always hated it when her brother didn't believe her.

"Fine, I'll leave you alone," she said. "If he comes back I hope he murders you."

At that moment Mr. Slater entered John's bedroom and was very surprised to see Michelle in there with him.

"Oh, are you two getting along again?" Mr. Slater asked.

"You wish," she said with bitter sarcasm as she walked out of the bedroom.

Mr. Slater sighed as he watched her walk out of the room. He then turned his attention to John.

"Get up," Mr. Slater said. "It's time for our morning walk,"

Michelle walked into the dining room where Mrs. Slater was waiting for her at the table. She sat down across from her. Then John and Mr. Slater came out.

"So who wants to go for a walk with me to get the paper?" Mr. Slater asked cheerfully.

"Yeah, I'll go," John said.

"Do I have to?" Michelle asked.

"It's what we always do," Mr. Slater said.

"Actually, it might be a good idea if Michelle stays behind," Mrs. Slater said quickly.
