As John, Mrs. Slater and Mr. Slater sat in the waiting room of the McCarthy Hospital none of them could even think due to how worried they all were about both Michelle and the baby. As the Doctor walked out he saw nothing but worried faces.

"Michelle and the baby are both fine," the Doctor said.

Even though John, Mrs. Slater, and Mr. Slater were relieved they still weren't happy about the savage beating Michelle had received hours earlier.

"But what about the beating she had?" Mr. Slater asked.

"We have her on morphine," the Doctor replied. "She'll need bed rest to recover,"

"I don't believe this," Mr. Slater said impatiently.

"I assure you we're doing everything we can for your daughter," the Doctor said.

"I know that and that's not what I'm talking about," Mr. Slater said to the Doctor before he turned his attention to John. "I'm angry at you. How could you let this happen to your sister?"

"I didn't know this was going to happen," John said.

"She's your sister, John," Mr. Slater said. "You should have been looking out for her,"

John looked like he was going to cry and that was the last thing Mrs. Slater needed.

"Doctor, can we see her?" Mrs. Slater asked.

"Yes," the Doctor replied. "I'll take you to her,"

The Doctor led John, Mrs. Slater, and Mr. Slater into her room. Michelle looked battered and exhausted. It broke all of their hearts to see her that way. Mrs. Slater walked to Michelle and hugged her. She hugged Mrs. Slater back and cried.

With the news that Daniel would be returning to the States soon he went out for a walk as he wasn't told which hospital Michelle was in but that wasn't the only reason. As he walked on the walking path the Stranger materialised in front of him and he knew exactly what was on his mind.

"It really is for the best," the Stranger said.

"FUCK YOU!" Daniel yelled.

"Yelling at me isn't going to change anything. You're going back to the States because it needs to be done,"

"No, it doesn't need to be done. This is because of you, isn't it?"

"No, it's not because of me. We took a vote and it was unanimous,"

"THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!"

Without any warning, the Stranger grabbed him and then teleported both of them to Times Square in New York City. It was about two o'clock in the morning. The Stranger let go of him.

"I told you not to yell at me," he said. "Now if you'd like I can just leave you here without giving both you or Michelle the chance to say goodbye, or you can calm down and I'll teleport you back to Hinton,"

Daniel was terrified of not seeing Michelle again and decided to calm down.

"Okay, I'll calm down," he said.

"Good idea," the Stranger replied.

The Stranger grabbed Daniel again and teleported them both back to Hinton.

"You're very lucky to be living in this reality," the Stranger said. "There are worse places to exist in,"

Daniel said nothing as he just wanted to do everything he could to be with Michelle. The Stranger could see he was scared and he took pleasure from that.
