On the Sunday of that weekend, Michelle didn't talk to John and her parents and it wasn't because her voice was hoarse. It was because they weren't speaking to her at all. At breakfast on Monday John refused to drive Michelle and she was fine with that. When she arrived at school Natalie was there waiting for her. She had no idea what to expect as she walked through the front gate.

"I heard you went out with Daniel on Saturday," Natalie said.

"Yeah, that's right," Michelle replied.

"I knew that story about Danny the Dweeb was bullshit,"

"Of course it was. What's your point?"

"The point is what the hell do you see in Daniel?"

"That's a great question," they both heard Daniel say.

They to see Daniel standing there.

"What do you see in me?" Daniel asked.

Michelle answered that question by walking up to him and kissing him passionately. As far as he was concerned he thought that was a great answer. Natalie couldn't believe what she was seeing and decided to walk away.

Michelle honestly believed that John was going to approach herself and Daniel throughout the day but he never did. To Michelle that was a huge relief and Daniel couldn't be happier about it. On the walk home from school, they were happy but there was only one thing that was bothering them. When they would be able to date again, or even at all.

"You won't be able to go out with me again for the rest of the time I'm here, are you?" Daniel asked already knowing the answer.

"No, but I have an idea about that," Michelle said.

With the way she said that it seemed to him that she was confident in the idea.

"What idea?" Daniel asked.

"I think you should meet my mother," Michelle said.

"Why? She hates me,"

"No, she only thinks she hates you. She doesn't know you,"

"Do you really think that's going to work?" he asked doubtfully.

Michelle hated hearing the doubt in his voice, especially since she was convinced that she was right.

"It has to work," she said. "Otherwise life is going to really suck,"

"I agree," he replied.

"So let's go to my place. My mother finishes work early on Mondays."

Daniel was immediately panicked by the idea.

"You want me to meet her today?" he asked.

"Yeah, because I really want to go out on dates with you," she said.

"Michelle, I really don't know about this,"

Hearing him say that really scared her.

"Daniel, don't you want to be my boyfriend?" Michelle asked sounding scared.

He hated hearing how sad she sounded.

"Yes, I want to be your boyfriend but I don't think today is the right day for me to meet your mother," he replied.

"Bullshit," she disagreed. "We have to fight for what we have or we'll have nothing,"

He still believed it was wrong to meet her mother that day but he was impressed by how determined she was.
