I Know Who I Am Now

A new offer.

After the force bond had ended Kylo had sat in his room, on the edge of his bed thinking. Rey had said that she wanted him, Ben. But it was too late wasn't it? Too late to become Ben again, too late to change all that had happened. He thought of her refusal of him yet again and the thought of it made him angry. He thumped his fist down on the bed and closed his eyes. This was a stalemate. He had told her that he would kill her but even as he'd said it he had known that it was just words.

"I tried Leia. He won't come here. I'm sure if I could be with him then he would stop all of this, he would come back from the dark side". Leia thought for a moment, her eyes closing wearily before she answered, "Then go to him Rey". Rey straightened, her brow creasing, unable to believe what Leia was saying. "I, I can't leave the resistance, all of you, you, need me, I need you". Leia took Rey's hand, "Ben needs you more, the galaxy needs you more. You could stop this, you could change the way things are done, the way he thinks. You have a hold on him Rey, he will listen to you". Rey felt as though she would cry. She knew that Leia was right and yet the thought of ruling with Kylo Ren terrified her. What if he didn't listen, what if he still came for the resistance and she was stood by his side. As ever Leia seemed to read Rey's thoughts, "He will listen to you Rey".

The following evening Rey meditated on Ben, building up the now familiar picture of him in her mind and then moving towards it. This time he was ready for her. He was stood in the corner of his room, dressed in full, with the exception of the mask. "Why are you here?" He asked bluntly. Rey swallowed hard, coming to stand close to him, her eyes peering up at his face. "I have a new proposition". Kylos eyes narrowed slightly but he said nothing, "I will join you" Rey said quietly, hearing a tremble in her voice. Kylos eyes became wide and his mouth fell open as Rey continued, "If I join you then we need to rewrite everything, everything has to change. The resistance will stop attacking the first order and the first order must leave the resistance alone. We need a way where everyone can live in peace". For a moment Rey thought that the man in front of her was going to cry as his eyes shone as they danced over her. He reached out a gloved hand to her and she hesitated before taking it. She wanted Ben but for now it would have to be Kylo, for the sake of all that she loved she knew that she would have to live with the monster before he became a man.
