I Know Who I Am Now

He has to pay.

Ben and Rey sat with Leias body until it disappeared, just her clothes remaining. Ben felt numb, his tears gone. Rey on the other hand felt full of rage against Poe. She promised herself that if she found him she would make him pay.

"We need to go" Finn said quietly. Ben raised his head and looked around vacantly as though waking from a deep sleep and Rey patted his shoulder as she stood, reaching a hand down to help him up. Finn had cracked the door open slightly and was peering out. Chewie was behind him and then Rose, her tiny frame dwarfed by the Wookie. Rey and Ben both grippped their sabers, ready to ignite them as they all shuffled out of the hot prison and out into the even hotter sun. They ran quickly to the next building, using it as cover and Ben turned, "You need to get to a ship, we can't take passengers. Get to a ship and come to our base". Finn nodded, "I know where an old shuttle is". Chewie grumbled bad temperedly at Finn who held up his hands, "What now?" He hissed at the Wookie. Ben leant across towards Finn, "He says he wants the falcon, not the piece of junk you're talking about". Finn shot Ben a look and then Chewie, "We can't take that! They'll see us!". Chewie grumbled again before following Finn. Rose turned to Rey, hugging her tightly, "Be safe" she said before surprising Ben by patting his stomach lightly, "You too" she said avoiding his gaze.

Ben held Rey's arm, "Come on, let's get to our ships, if they need fire power we can provide it".  Rey seemed as though she didn't hear him and Ben squeezed her arm, "Rey?  Come on".  Ben ran out from between the buildings, his hand on his lightsaber hilt.  He began to run back in the direction of the ships when he heard shouting.  He stopped dead, suddenly aware that Rey wasn't with him.

Rey had let Ben go, not wanting for a moment to risk him being injured but she had stayed.  She had to find Poe, he had to pay.  She headed back towards the prison, pretty sure that Poe and the other resistance members would be holed up in the main operations room.  She was right.  She looked carefully through the window and saw Poe sat with his head in his hands.  C3PO was stood next to him saying something.  "Shut up!" Poe suddenly shouted at the droid as he stood up.  The room was full but Rey only wanted Poe.  She ignited her saber by the window, knowing full sure that Poe would be the first one out.  Sure enough he ran out, straight into Rey.  He cried out in surprise, his hand reaching for his blaster.  Rey lifted her arm and, with her fingers outstretched she locked Poes arm at his side, just as Kylo Ren had to her on Takodana.  Behind him other resistance members attempted to assist him.  Rey used her other hand to force close the door on them, just as Ben appeared.

"Rey.  You don't have to do this, we need to keep this relationship going, we need to bring people together not push them further apart" Ben said, his eyes flitting between Rey and then the pilot "That's what you said". Rey shook her head, "I was wrong.  Poe has to pay.  I'm taking him back to the base".  Ben could see the determination on Rey's face and he sighed deeply.  Not only was this not going to help, but the last thing he wanted was dealings with the pilot with the smart mouth again.  But he had to admit that he also wanted nothing more than to see the pilot suffer.  He had taken his mother's life, he deserved to suffer.  Rey looked at Ben, seeking his silent permission.  Lifting his own hand to take over the force hold on the door from Rey he nodded once and Rey waved her hand in front of the pilots  wide eyes and he fell down. Ben lifted a heavy log using his force powers which he leant against the door to the operations room, trapping everyone inside.  And then they left with their prisoner.
