I Know Who I Am Now

Poe hung his head as the remaining resistance fighters filed into one of the only buildings left standing, "Ten.  I count ten" Poe said as his eyes swept the room.  "Thirteen actually" C3PO chirped up.  Poe looked at the droid, an irritated expression on his face, "What?".  "Thirteen counting us droids" C3PO went on.  Poe rolled his eyes and threw his hands in the air, "Ok, thirteen.  Ten, thirteen, whatever, it's a tiny number.  If the first order regroup and come back, which they will, we'll be stuffed this time".  Rey looked at Ben and he smiled sadly at her, Poe was right.  The first order still had Generals and plenty of fire power.

A  rumble shook the room and Chewbacca grunted.  Everyone looked around.  Another rumble and then the sound of approaching ships.  Everyone ran outside, their faces turning up to the sky.  A blanket of ships of all shapes and sizes blocked out the sun.  Ben instinctively took Rey's hand in his, his other hand on the blaster on his belt.  One of the ships landed just beyond a thicket of brambles and the remaining resistance members rushed to it, blasters raised.  The door hissed open and Poe rushed forwards, his blaster held high.  "That's not the welcome I was promised" came a voice and a moment later Lando Calrissian walked out, still walking tall despite his age.

"This is amazing!" Rey said excitedly gripping Bens arm.  The room was now over full with people willing to join their cause.  Bens eyes swept the crowd, he had counted one hundred at least.  "Ben Solo?" Ben turned and found Lando stood in front of him, his hand outstretched.  He shook hands with the man in front of him, a vague memory of him from when he was a young boy flashing through his mind.  As if reading his thoughts Lando smiled, "Your mother was a dear friend, as was your father".  Ben dropped his eyes at the mention of his father but Lando squeezed his hand, "They would have been proud of you".  Bens eyes met his and the two men smiled, Bens head nodding, a silent thank you for his kind words after all that he had done.  "How did you know we needed more numbers?  It was like a miracle when you all arrived!" Rey said, her eyes shining.  Lando smiled, "One thing Leia was very good at was planning ahead, she put out a distress call weeks ago, as soon as I could amass enough people and ships we set off".  Rey took his hands, "Thank you" she said softly.  Lando nodded and then walked slowly over to Chewbacca, embracing the Wookie warmly.

Rey laced her fingers with Bens and he leant down and kissed her tenderly, "For the first time in my whole life I know who I am" Ben whispered.  Rey beamed, her lips pressing against his again before she whispered "So do I".
