"You were sitting right there," I said, pointing to the spot at the bar where I saw her for the first time.

"And you were over there," she said, pointing to where I had been, across the room.

"You saw me?" I asked. I didn't think she had ever noticed me before we met outside.

She gave me a look like that was a dumb question. "Of course I saw you. You're sort of impossible not to notice. I didn't know who you were though, truthfully."

I looked around, trying to recreate the scene of that night in my head.

"I can't believe that we've been dating for a year. A full year, you've been my girlfriend. It feels like yesterday that I was in this room daydreaming about you," I said, shaking my head.

She chuckled. "Yeah. I completely understand."

The music was loud, and the lights were dancing around the room and hitting her face and she looked so perfectly beautiful. Just like the first time I saw her. It's impossible not to stare.

I kissed her, in a room full of people, because I don't really care about any other person who's not her tonight. It's our night.

She grinned after we separated. "Can we dance?"

Those were pretty much the last three words I would expect to come out of Gemma Clark's mouth, but I was surprisingly glad to hear them.

"I'd love to," I replied with a smile. She took my hand, pulling me into the crowd of people, which is normally the opposite of what we do. She looked at me like she was just seeing me for the first time. I tried to remember how it felt that night—how it felt to first see the girl I'm going to spend my life with—but I just can't put myself in those shoes again. I don't remember what it felt like to look at her before she was mine. It feels like she's always been mine.
