Reminder: don't let Gemma Clark attempt to set you up with people. Even if she says they are the most amazing person in the whole world, don't believe her. Because you're never going to like this girl more than you like Gemma. Which is stupid, and you need to get over it, but don't waste someone else's time at that expense.

Theresa was Gemma's friend who she worked with. I didn't necessarily want to go out with her, but I did for a few different reasons.

1. Maybe she really was a great girl. Maybe we'd really hit it off.

(spoiler alert: this did not happen)

2. Maybe going out with another girl will throw Gemma off of the fact that I like her. That makes sense, right?

3. If this girl really is that great and I still don't feel anything for her, maybe whatever I feel for Gemma is actually real and I should actually think about doing something about it.

4. Gemma had basically already told this Theresa girl that I was down to go out with her, so I honestly couldn't even had said no if I really wanted to.

(the last reason is the main reason I went)

If I could make a Venn diagram of people who I want to date, and people who Gemma wants me to date, the circles would never touch. Because I want to date her, and she wants me to date anyone else.

So, immediately after I took this Theresa girl back to her house and lied that I had a good time, I called Gemma, mostly because she had asked me to.

"How was it?" was the first thing she said when she answered.

"Hello to you too."

"Sorry. Got ahead of myself," she said. "Hey Shawn, how are you? The weather is great,
isn't it?"

I laughed.

"Now that we've gotten our greetings out of the way, how was it?"

"Do you want honesty?"

"Obviously. Give it to me straight."

I sighed. "It was...fine. She was fine. The whole thing was just fine."

Gemma groaned. "Fine isn't good enough."

"I know. She was nice, though. I liked her," I said. That much was true.

"You should just come over and we can talk in person," she told me.

"I don't know...I have lots of things to do. Why should I?"

"It's literally ten o'clock at night, what could you possibly have to do?" she asked.

"You know...stuff."

"Fine. Be lame."

"I'm just kidding. I'll be there in like, five? Maybe ten?" I don't really know how far I am from her apartment.

"Okay. Be safe. See you in five but maybe ten."

"See ya."

About seven minutes later, I knocked on her door. She answered it quickly and grinned.

"Hey there," she said.
