Chapter 30

{Chris's POV} 

The next morning Ronnie and I were sitting in the SUV waiting for the doors to open when the doors opened, I climbed out of the SUV. I opened the backseat door I unbuckled Ronnie and helped her out of the backseat I handed her, her book bag I closed the backseat door. 

"Would you like me to walk you to class?" 

"Yes please,"

Ronnie held my hand as we walked inside school, we walked to her classroom I knelt down to Ronnie's level and hugged her. 

"I love you and have a good day." I said. 

"I love you too." Ronnie replied, giving me a hug. 

I rose to my feet and watched her walk inside her classroom I walked up the hall and exited the school I climbed inside the SUV my cellphone was ringing I pulled out my cellphone. 

"Hello?" I said, answering my phone. 

"Hello, may I please speak to a Christopher Cerulli?" a woman's voice asked.

"This is him," 

"This is Hayley from the animal shelter I am calling about the solid black kitten that you dropped off the owners never came to claim it so the kitten is officially yours." 

"Thank you so much I will be there soon to pick up the kitten." I said. 

After I hung up the call, I put my phone away I put the key in the ignition and started the engine and drove away on the way to the animal shelter I stopped at Petco and picked up supplies for the kitten. When I arrived at the animal shelter, I parked the SUV and killed the engine I climbed out of the SUV and walked inside the animal shelter. Hayley greeted me and handed me the pet carrier. 

"The kitten is in perfect health whoever she belonged to took care of her I have a feeling they didn't want her because she's a solid black cat she has had all of her shots and has been fixed free of charge." 

"I searched my backyard to see if I could hopefully find her mother or siblings but I didn't see them this kitten is going to a good home. My daughter found the kitten and asked me to keep it and I agreed she will be so happy when she comes home from school thanks again for the call." 

I left the animal shelter I climbed back inside the SUV, I sat the pet carrier on the passenger seat and buckled the seat belt across it. I put the key into the ignition and started the engine I drove away. When I arrived home, I parked in front of the house and killed the engine I unbuckled the pet carrier and grabbed it I climbed out of the SUV and walked up to the house I walked up the porch steps. I opened the storm door and unlocked the inside door I opened the door and walked inside the house I sat the pet carrier in the living room. I left the living room and left the house I walked back down to the SUV and grabbed the shopping bag out of the backseat I closed the door. I walked back up to the house I walked up the porch steps and walked back inside the house I closed the front door behind myself and locked it. I set everything up for the kitten and let her out of the pet carrier I took off my sweat jacket and laid it on the couch I put the tags onto the collar I put the collar around Salem's neck. 

"Welcome to the family Salem." I said petting Salem. 

I heard someone knocking at the door I left the living room and answered the door I was shocked to see Gaia standing on the doorstep. 

"Gaia?" 

"Aren't you glad to see me?" 

"It's not that I'm not glade to see you but I don't know how Ronnie is going to be when she sees you." I said.
