Chapter 58

{Chris's POV} 

The next afternoon I am standing at the alter in the chapel surrounded by family and friends to witness me marry the love of my life. Shelly takes the ring from my good friend and best man Angelo and slides the wedding ring onto my finger she recites her vows and trying not to cry. I take the other ring and slid it onto Shelly's finger and recite my vows. Shelly and I were worried about someone trying to stop us from getting married so we asked the priest to remove the speak now or forever hold your peace out of the vows. 

"I may now pronounce you husband and wife you may kiss the bride." the priest stated. 

I leaned in and kissed Shelly, she pulled back and gazed at me with tears in her eyes Ronnie ran over to us I picked up my little girl and placed her on my hip. 

"We're officially a family!" Ronnie exclaimed. 

"Yes, we are officially a family." I stated beaming. 

Ronnie, Shelly, and I posed for photos out in the hallway. 

"Babe, I think it would be best if you introduce me to your family." 

"Mom, dad, Nick, Jen this my wife Shelly. We were friends in high school but lost touch after we graduated Shelly and I reconnected when I took Ronnie to Petco to adopt a sibling for Salem. Ronnie took a liking to Shelly and when Shelly and I started dating we included Ronnie in our dates. When I wanted to propose to Shelly, I asked Ronnie if she would be okay with it and she was." 

"Welcome to the family Shelly." my family said. 

"Thank you," Shelly smiled. 

I watched Ronnie walk over to Maya, I wrapped my arm around Shelly's waist she looked at me and smiled. 

"Congrats Chris." 

"Thanks Angelo." 

Ronnie walked over to me I picked her up and placed her on my hip. 

"Is this your little girl?" Angelo asked. 

"Yes, this is my daughter Veronica I call her Ronnie for short." I said. 

"Ronnie looks just like you." 

"She is a spitting image of me I tease her and call her my mini me." 

"Daddy is Angelo my uncle?" Ronnie asked. 

"Yes, Angelo is your uncle because he is a good friend of mine." I explained. 

Ronnie wanted to get down I put her down she walked back over to Maya. I took Shelly by the hand and introduced her to Ricky, Jamie, Ryan, Vinny, Justin, and Shae, they welcomed her with open arms. 

"It's nice to see you finally found happiness." 

"Thanks," 

"Bye daddy." Ronnie said, heading for the exit with Mike, Hilary, and Maya.

"Bye sweetheart be good for Mike and Hilary." I replied. 

"I will daddy, I promise." 

I didn't see Shelly I went looking for her, I spotted her sitting in a pew I walked over to her. 

"Are you okay?" I asked. 

"I shouldn't have worn heels but I wanted to be somewhat tall and now my feet are killing me." Shelly said, rubbing her feet. 

"I'll take you home." 

Shelly put her heels back on I helped her to her feet we walked back out into the hall. 

"Christopher would you and Shelly like to join us for dinner?" my mom asked. 

"No thank you mom, I am going to take Shelly because her feet are killing her." I said gently. 

Shelly and I made our way to the exit and left the chapel. I helped Shelly to the car I opened her door and held it open for her, Shelly climbed inside the car I closed the door. I walked around to the driver's side and climbed behind the wheel I put the key into the ignition and started the engine I turned on the heat and put on my seat belt. I backed slowly out of the parking space and drove out of the parking lot and stopped at a red-light Shelly took off her heels. 

"Babe, I hope your family isn't pissed at us for not wanting to join them for dinner." 

"My family isn't angry even if they are they'll get over it but I am not going to sit in a restaurant while your feet are killing you because that's not fair to you. When we get home, I'll carry you up to the house so you don't have to put your heels back on." 

When the light turned green, I continued to drive Shelly leaned over and kissed my cheek she leaned back over in her seat. When we arrived home, I parked in front of the house I turned off the heat and killed the engine. 

"Stay here I'll come back for you." I said, removing my seat belt. 

I pulled out the key and climbed out of the car I walked up to the house I opened the storm door and unlocked the front door and opened it. I walked back down to the car I opened Shelly's door and scooped her up in my arms I closed the door I carried Shelly up to the house. I opened the storm door and walked inside the house I gently put her down I closed the front door and locked it. 

"I am going to go soak in a nice warm bath. Would you like to join me?" 

"I would love too," 

Shelly and I removed our jackets and walked upstairs to our bedroom I headed into the bathroom and ran bathwater for the two of us. I left the bathroom and kicked off my shoes I put my shoes on the floor in the closet I followed Shelly into the bathroom. We removed our clothes and climbed into the tub Shelly turned off the water she climbed onto my lap and leaned back against my chest she laid her head back against my shoulder. 

"How do you feel since we are officially married?" I asked, nuzzling her neck. 

"I don't feel any different accept my last name changed from Croft to Cerulli." Shelly smiled. 

When Shelly and I came out of the bathroom we left the bedroom and walked downstairs I headed into the living room and sat down on the couch. I grabbed the remote off the coffee table and turned on the TV, Shelly came into the living room and sat down on the couch. Later on, that night Shelly and I were snuggling on the couch watching some movie on TV, I wrapped my arm around her, she laid her head on my chest. 

"Would you like your birthday presents?" 

"Maybe later right now I just want to snuggle with my husband and watch this movie." 

I wasn't into the movie but Shelly seemed to like it I pretended to like it so she wouldn't feel bad I fell asleep. I felt someone gently nudge me, I woke up Shelly leaned in and kissed me. 

"Let's go to bed." Shelly suggested.

We got up off the couch I turned off the lamp Shelly and I left the living room we walked upstairs to bed.
