My dad the rockstar

Chapter 40

{Chris's POV}

It's the morning of Ronnie's school field trip we are currently on the school bus to the pumpkin patch Ronnie is staring out the window. 

"What's the matter?" 

"The kids keep looking at us like we're weird." 

"Don't let it get to you Ronnie." I said softly. 

"Okay," Ronnie sighed. 

Ronnie curled into my side I wrapped my arm around her I let Ronnie play one of her games on my phone. 

"Are you excited about spending the whole day out of school with me?" 

"Yes!!" 

When we arrived at the pumpkin patch Ronnie exited out of the game and handed me back my phone and exited the school bus with her classmates. 

"Class I need some of you to go with Ronnie's dad and Maya's dad." Mrs. Davis said. 

The kids looked at their teacher like she was crazy. 

"My dad and uncle Mike aren't going to hurt or scare you so what if my dad and uncle have tattoos and piercings, they are really sweet and caring." Ronnie stated. 

"Ronnie's right my dad and uncle Chris aren't scary I love my dad and uncle a lot because their cool I love them no matter what. So, if you don't want to be in a group with my dad and uncle that's fine." Maya said annoyed. 

"Thank you, girls, for defending your dads and uncles I think your classmates need to learn how to treat people with respect and don't look down upon people who are different." 

Mike and I made sure the class stayed together Ronnie and Maya tried to prove to their classmates that we weren't scary none of the kids believed them so the girls gave up and stayed close to Mike and I. 

"Ronnie why don't you and Maya go stand in front of the sign that's decorated for Halloween and Mike and I will take your photo." I said. 

Ronnie and Maya walked over to the sign and posed in front of it Mike and I pulled out our phones and took pictures of the girls we walked over to the sign and knelt down to their level and took selfies with Ronnie and Maya. 

When it was time for lunch Ronnie and I sat with Maya and Mike at an empty picnic table Ronnie was picking at her lunch. 

"Ronnie what's the matter?" Maya asked. 

"It's nothing." Ronnie sighed. 

"Ronnie are you still upset about your classmates looking at me and Mike like we're freaks?" I asked, glancing across the table at my little girl. 

"Yes," She replied. 

"Sweetheart, your uncles and I are used to it believe me there are a lot of people who don't like me or the music that Motionless In White makes. I learned not to let what people say or think about me or Motionless In White bother me." 

"People could also not like you because you dressed as Jesus Christ for the music video for Immaculate Misconception but Ronnie what your dad is saying is true when I used to work for your dad's band people would call us all sort of horrible things and look at us strangely. People look at me strangely not so much for my tattoos but for my piercings that I have." 

After lunch Mike and I took the girls to the hayride with the rest of their classmates Ronnie and Maya enjoyed the hayride. Before we left to get back on the bus everyone got to pick out a pumpkin Ronnie handed me her pumpkin after everyone selected a pumpkin, we boarded the school bus and drove back to school. 

"Daddy can we carve the pumpkin?" Ronnie asked. 

"I'll carve it for you later. Do you know what you want carved on the pumpkin?" I said. 

"Can you please carve MIW onto the pumpkin?" 

"Sure," 

When the school bus arrived back at school Mrs. Davis led the class off the bus Mrs. Davis dismissed the students to their parents Ronnie and I walked to the SUV. I unlocked the doors and opened the backseat door I sat the pumpkin on the seat I helped Ronnie into the backseat she sat in her car seat and buckled her in. I closed the door and climbed behind the wheel I put the key into the ignition and started the engine I drove away. 

"I had fun spending the whole day with you." Ronnie said. 

"I'm glad you had fun with me." I replied, turning on the heater. 

When we arrived home, I turned right onto the street and parked in front of the house I turned off the heater and killed the engine I climbed out of the SUV. I opened the backseat door I unbuckled Ronnie from her car seat and helped her out of the backseat I grabbed the pumpkin off the seat and closed the door. Ronnie and I walked up to the house I opened the storm door she walked inside the house I followed her inside the house I closed the inside door behind us and locked it. 

"Baby we're home." I called. 

"I'm in the kitchen." Shelly answered. 

I sat the pumpkin on the hallway table I removed my jacket and hung it up Ronnie took off her jacket and handed it to me I hung up her jacket I grabbed Ronnie's pumpkin and headed for the kitchen. I walked over to the counter and sat the pumpkin down I walked over to Shelly and kissed her. 

"Who's pumpkin?" 

"It's Ronnie's I'm going to carve the words MIW onto the pumpkin for her later." 

"How was the field trip?" She asked. 

"Ronnie had a good time but she didn't like the way her classmates were looking at Mike and I." I replied, leaning against the counter. 

"Well, she's not going to let her classmates treat you and Mike like your weird or a part of a freak show." 

Ronnie came into the kitchen she walked over to me I picked her up and placed her on my hip she laid her head on my shoulder. 

"Your dad told me about how your classmates looked at him and uncle Mike like they were weird." Shelly said. 

"Maya and I stood up for our dad's my teacher Mrs. Davis wasn't happy with the class I think she might have told their parents about how they treated our dad's." Ronnie replied. 

After dinner I helped Ronnie carve my bands name onto her pumpkin when I was finished carving the pumpkin Ronnie and I placed the pumpkin on the top step of the porch. We walked back inside the house I took her upstairs and gave her a bath when I was finished giving Ronnie a bath, I helped her out of the tub I dried her off. I helped Ronnie get dressed and combed her hair we left the bathroom. 

"Daddy, I'm going downstairs." 

"Okay sweetie." 

I left Ronnie's room I walked up the hall to my room and took a shower when I was finished taking a shower, I left the bathroom and left mine and Shelly's room I walked downstairs and entered the living room. I joined Shelly and Ronnie on the couch we were watching a cartoon called The Owl House on the Disney Channel. 

"I love you, daddy." Ronnie said. 

"I love you too, Ronnie." I smiled. 

Later on, that night Ronnie, Shelly, and I were watching the Disney Channel, Ronnie crawled onto my lap and laid her head on my chest I kissed her head. 

"Babe, she's sound asleep on you." 

"I'll carry her up to bed." 

I got up off the couch and left the living room I carried my sleeping princess upstairs to her room and tucked her into bed I tucked her Jack and Sally dolls under her arm. I kissed Ronnie's cheek and turned off the lamp I quietly left her room and closed the door behind me. I walked up the hall to mine and Shelly's room she was lying in bed I closed the door behind myself and crawled into bed I reached over and turned off the lamp I snuggled up behind Shelly and drifted off to sleep.
